Alice Ruth Joseph and Alan Edwards

Alice Ruth Joseph of Charleston and Alan Holbert Edwards Jr. of Charleston were united in marriage on Jan. 12, 2008, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Georgetown.

Performing the 6:30 p.m. ceremony were the Rev. Phillip Thrailkill and the Rev. Ron Ferrell. 

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. John Anthony Joseph Jr. of Georgetown. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Arlene Wilcox Joseph of Georgetown and the late Dr. John Anthony Joseph Sr. and the late Dr. and Mrs. Harry Calhoun Taylor Jr. of Georgetown.

The bride graduated from Georgetown High School and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Georgia Tech. She received a master’s in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina and is employed as a Process Engineer at MUSC.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Holbert Edwards Sr. of Conway. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thomas MacNaughton of Columbia and Mrs. Elise Edwards Vereen of Conway and the late Mr. Holbert Vander Edwards.

The groom graduated from Carolina Forest High School and obtained a Bachelor of Science  degree in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University.

He received a master’s in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina and is currently completing an administrative residency at MUSC.

The couple will honeymoon in Greece and reside in Charleston.

 A program of nuptial music was provided by Mr. Paul Ivan Skoko, organist, and Bryan Buss, trumpeter. Prelude music was performed by The Duncan Quintet.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

Serving as maid of honor was the bride’s sister, Miss Kathleen Taylor Joseph.

Bridesmaids were Mrs. Margaret Wilson Asay, Mrs. Lauren Asay Campbell, Miss Dana Victoria Joseph, all cousins of the bride, and Mrs. Elizabeth Martin Hutto, a childhood friend of bride.

Honorary attendants were Mrs. Heather Walker Guiendon, Miss Kimberly Margaret Lorence, Miss Whitney Allison Rife and Miss Christine Louise Rutz.
Serving as best man was the groom’s father, Mr. Alan Holbert Edwards Sr.

Groomsmen were Mr. Charles Robert Edwards, brother of groom, Mr. Michael Patrick Cassady, Mr. Parkes Browning Coggins, Mr. Brian Maddox Greaver and Mr. Justin Michael Tapp.

Ushers were Mr. Scott Richard Baskin, Mr. Michael David Brown and Mr. Rhett Wilton Mitchell.

The reader was Dr. Timothy Gerard Joseph, cousin of the bride.

Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Winyah Indigo Society Hall

REHEARSAL


A rehearsal dinner was given by the groom’s parents at DeBordieu Country Club on Jan. 11.
