Briggs M. Ahearn was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at The University of South Carolina (USC) in April.
In this honor, Briggs joins his sister, Noel M. Ahearn, who was inducted in 2006.
Both are graduates of Waccamaw High School. Their parents are Dr. and Mrs. A. Mason Ahearn of Debordieu Colony, Georgetown.
Briggs is completing his junior year at USC as a pre-med major.
Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's oldest and most prestigious collegiate undergraduate society. It was founded in 1776 at The College of William and Mary, and South Carolina's Alpha Chapter was formed in 1926.
Alpha's President, Dr. Cole B. Grahm reported that for election of juniors, students must maintain three-year cumulative GPAs of 3.85, and that is only about one-percent.
