'Blue Mass' set for Sept. 11

Published on 8/28/2008

On Thursday night, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m. at St. Mary's' Catholic Church, 317 Broad St. in Georgetown, the Knights of Columbus Council 3067 will sponsor a "Blue Mass" to honor all law enforcement, fire and rescue and military personnel who protect our town and country, as well as those who protect our coast in the Georgetown area.

All retired police, fire/rescue family members and friends are also welcome for this special tribute to those who serve at home and abroad.

This will be the seventh anniversary of the terror attacks on the World Trade Center twin towers in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and another airliner that crashed in a field in Shanksville, Penn. after changing its flight plan to Washington. It was taken over by three hijackers and crashed as passengers tried to wrest control from them.

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic fraternal men's organization.
