Waccamaw High had 122 yards of offense and 122 yards on punts last week and handed North Myrtle Beach its first victory in 22 games.

Waccamaw head coach Tyronne Davis' assessment of the game was "awful."

North Myrtle Beach took a 20-0 lead before Jalen Simmons scored for Waccamaw with 8.4 seconds left in the first half.

The Chiefs scorched the Warriors defense on a 67-yard run on the first play from scrimmage of the second half. Daniel Whitlock made a touchdown-saving tackle.

Three plays later the Chiefs scored to extend the lead to 26-7.

After a North Myrtle Beach fumble on a punt gave Waccamaw the ball on the 7-yard-line, Jeffron Smalls ran it in to cut the lead to 26-14.

The Chiefs then scored four more touchdowns, including one on a fumbled punt.

With just over 2 minutes left in the game, North Myrtle Beach coach Perry Woolbright ran the play clock down and had his quarterback take a knee on four straight plays to finish the game.

"Congratulations to North Myrtle Beach and the coaching staff on the great job they did of preparing their kids," Davis said. "Congratulations to coach Woolbright for getting his first win, unfortunately it had to come against us."

Simmons was the leading rusher for Waccamaw with 67 yards. He also blocked two extra point attempts by the Chiefs.

Smalls had 20 yards rushing.

Rob Ferraro had an interception on a Chiefs' two-point conversion attempt.

Waccamaw (0-1) hosts Green Sea-Floyds on Friday night. The Class A Trojans beat West Columbia 24-6 last week.
