Georgetown County residents will get to see the new Carroll Ashmore Campbell Marine Complex Saturday.
The county Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a boat show and water sports extravaganza from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the brand-new facility off U.S. Highway 17 (South Fraser Street). There's no admission charge.
This 31-foot Contender is from Tailwalker Marine, one of eight boat dealers in the show. Brent Ballard and Brian Goude (in the boat) brought this one by on Tuesday to help publicize the event.
There will be lots of activities all day.
SeaTow will have a boat ballet and charter boat captains will put on fishing seminars from the deck.
S.C. DNR will talk about water safety, Surf the Earth, Scuba Express and Blue Wave Adventures will have demonstrations. Black River Outdoors will have a display and naturalist Jerry Walls will bring some of his reptiles.
There will be a casting contest and safety contest for the kids.
Hog Heaven will bring barbecue and other goodies for sale, and David's Carolina Kettle Corn will be available for purchase.
On Monday, there will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony open to the public at 10 a.m. and the official opening of the marine complex.
