Andrews gave up back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to lose 6-5 to Hartsville National on Monday night.

The loss ended Andrews' hopes of a Dixie Youth Baseball O-Zone state title.

"I'm very proud of the boys," head coach Brent Watford said. "They had a successful season."

Andrews started the tournament with an 11-9 win over Delmae on Saturday afternoon.

Caleb Stone led the offense, going 3-for-3 with a home run.

Dylan Morris went 2-for-3 with a home run and a single; Demarre Moore went 2-for-3 with two singles; Ethan Browder went 1-for-2 with a home run; Hunter Knight went 1-for-2 with a double; and Connor Moore, Josh Cannon, Dayton Altman, Dylan Cox and Jordan Gatlin all had singles.

Connor Moore's home run was the only hit for Andrews in a 13-2 loss to Lexington American in game two on Sunday.

The teams combined for seven home runs in the game, a South Carolina Dixie Youth record.

The record lasted about 24 hours until Andrews and Hartsville Northern combined for nine home runs in Monday night's game.

Luke Lambert, Connor Moore, Demarre Moore and Browder all had home runs; Morris had two singles; and Cannon, Cox and Knight each singled.

"It was a good experience for a lot of my boys," Watford said. "I told them, 'let's go out there and play hard.'"

Pawleys Island struggled at the Dixie Youth tournament, losing 12-0 to Hilton Head and 15-2 to Midland.

"We were a little overwhelmed," said head coach Marion Busby. "My kids are just young."

Jalen Busby had only hit in the loss to Hilton Head.

Coach Busby said his team of All-Stars came together well for the three-game district tournament, beating Georgetown and Andrews.

"We didn't expect to beat Andrews," he said. "They have a lot of seventh-graders."

Both Busby and Watford praised the new 8 Oaks Park, where the tournament was held, calling the facilities, fields and overall experience, "awesome."
