Yellow Jackets of Andrews buzzed past the Waccamaw Warriors and the Hanahan Hawks last week.

The Andrews team won Friday over Hanahan 60-52 in an away game.

On Tuesday, the Yellow Jackets traveled to Pawleys Island where they defeated Waccamaw 53-43.

Hanahan

Harold Langley Jr. led the swarm of Yellow Jackets on Friday with 19 points. The Hawks weren't able to pick them off even though Hanahan played the Georgetown County team at its home nest.

Cory Rush added 15 points for Andrews; Stefon Collins 13; Rodquel Davis 8; and Ken Funnye 5.

Hanahan's scorers were JaRon Denmark 14; E.J. Green 4; Mike Forrester 12; Paul Smith 3; Michael Hurwitz 8; Irim Aiken 6; and Carlos Serrano 5.

Waccamaw

Andrews wasn't much kinder to its in-county rival Waccamaw on Tuesday, leading in three of four quarters and both teams scoring 17 points in the final period.

Andrews won the Tuesday game 53-43.

Joey Alba and Tevin Gardner each had 11 points for Waccamaw, followed by Sam Green 7; Alex Jessmore 5; James Williams 4; Joey Walton 2; and Josh Rector 2.

For Andrews, Langley and Rush each had 13 points; Collins 12; Davis 6; Mark McCray 4; Keon Williams 3; and Neal Pope 2.

"I have to give Coach (Mike) Quinn much credit," Andrews coach Kevin Branham said. "He did a good job slowing us down. His guys played extremely well."

Andrews had 15 steals for the night, but shot just 35 percent from the free throw line in the first half. Things improved after the break to 60 percent from the line.

"They just frustrated us," Branham said. He told the team they had to be patient.

"But, nonetheless, we'll take the win and be happy with it."

WHS vs. Timberland

Waccamaw won Friday against Timberland, 38-37. It was the Warriors' first Region VII-AA win.

Joey Alba led the Warriors with 14 points; Tevin Gardner 10; Alex Jessmore 5; James Williams 2; Joey Walton 2; Bradley Adams 2; Josh Rector 1; and Stuart Hooks 2.

Alba and Gardner each had two 3-point shots in the game.
