The Andrews Darlings and Angels team got an invite to this week's Dixie World Series tournaments as host teams.
Both Andrews teams came away winless, but with an experience they will never forget.
"It was awesome," said Angels coach Joey Bourne. "It's an experience we probably won't get to do again us coming from a small community."
"They had fun and that was what our goal was," said Darlings coach Billie Camlin. "Overall I think they learned a lot about the game of softball and learned a lot of about what they're capable of and what they can do and what they can try harder to do."
Camlin played in a Dixie Debs World Series tournament when she was a teenager and was thrilled that her daughter got to play as a Darling. And her son played in the Dixie Youth Baseball O-Zone state tournament a few weeks ago.
Both coaches were impressed with the facilities at 8 Oaks Park.
"It's a beautiful facility," Bourne said. "People's tax dollars well spent."
"It was great," Camlin said. "Everybody was very helpful and everything was very well put together."
The members of the Andrews Angels were: Caroline Bourne, Jin Brown, Leah Cooper, Madison Gaskins, Ansley Harrington, Katlin Micheoiu, Katlyn Newton, Mary Hannah Newton, Camie Samson, Dacie Smith, Chloe Tisdale, and Mary Kathryn Wilder.
The coaches were: Bourne, Joey Harrington and Bobby Swinnie.
The members of the Andrews Darlings were: Dru Camlin, Raegan Cannon, Raylee Cannon, Makinley Cooper, Carmen Fulton, Hollis Harper, McKenzie Johns, Kylee Lambert, Abbie McCants, Waynelesha McCray, Savannah Moore, and Taylor Nesbitt.
The coaches were: Camlin, Stephen Harper, Jason Cannon and Tracy Johns.
