Here's a wrapup of the recent girls high school basketball action.
Andrews
The Yellow Jackets beat Timberland 50-30 on Jan. 13 for their first Region VII win in two years.
Andrews held a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter but held Timberland in single digits in each of the remaining quarters for the victory.
Neoshe Greene led Andrews with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Tashera Middleton had 11 points, Qunaisha Brown had 10 points and four steals, Jalekia Filmore had six points, and Nyiesha Filmore had four points and three steals.
Waccamaw
The Warriors improved to 2-1 in Region VIII with a 44-41 win over Aynor on Tuesday night.
Aynor led 13-8 at the end of the first quarter but Waccamaw rallied in the second to take a 21-20 lead at the half and extended it to 30-27 at the end of the third. The Blue Jackets came back to take the lead the fourth, but the Warriors rallied again for the three-point victory.
Waccamaw coach Robert Burdette said his players never lost their composure.
"We were ahead the whole game and when we got behind in the fourth they were confident. During every timeout they were very calm."
"We're learning how to play together as a team," Mary Tyler said. "We're coming together."
Aaliyah Hudson led Waccamaw with 10 points. Tyler had nine points, Rachel Thornton had eight, Imani Carr had seven, and Jaynae Rice had four.
Carvers Bay
The Bears lost 44-43 to Green Sea-Floyds on a free throw in the closing seconds on Tuesday night.
Green Sea-Floyds led 10-6 at the end of the first quarter but a 12-point second quarter put Carvers Bay up 18-17 at the half.
The Trojans rallied in the third to regain the lead 30-28.
Carvers Bay outscored Green Sea-Floyds 15-14 in the fourth, but the Trojans hit the free throw for their first win of the season.
Desiree Green led Carvers Bay with 15 points. Quantasia Robertson had nine points, Jasmine Cobb had five, and Rhomona Reed and Alexis Waterman had four each.
Georgetown
The Bulldogs lost their third straight game, a 64-56 defeat at the hands of North Myrtle Beach on Tuesday night.
Georgetown led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter, but a 24-point second quarter put North Myrtle Beach up 33-25 at the half. The Bulldogs cut the lead to 40-35, but the Chiefs put up 24 in the fourth quarter to hold on for the victory.
Taziya Moody led Georgetown with 20 points. Raven Smith had 17 points,
Justis Evans and Moet Spann had six each, and Shanell Wright added four.
