Andrews falls to Stall in overtime

Andrews was unable to get the ball into the end zone in overtime last week and lost 26-23 to Stall.

Jaleel Filmore got the Yellow Jackets on the board first with a 1-yard touchdown run halfway through the first quarter.

Stall tied the score at 7-7 with 1:27 left in the first, and took a 14-7 lead two minutes into the second quarter.

After Andrews quarterback Ethan Wright tied the game with an 18-yard touchdown run, Stall scored on an 80-yard touchdown pass. Filmore blocked the extra point to keep the score 20-14.

Wright scored his second touchdown of the game to tie the score with 2:23 left, but Jose Santos' extra point attempt was blocked, sending the game into overtime.

Santos' field goal gave Andrews a 23-20 lead, but Stall came back and scored a touchdown to win 26-23.

Wright was the leading rusher for the Yellow Jackets with 136 yards. Filmore had 107 yards.

Monte McCrea led the Andrews defense with eight tackles and one sack. Troyan Washington had eight tackles, Kalen Hudson had seven, Colton Fulton, and Johnel Grant had six each, and Quandre Green had five.

Andrews opens its region schedule with a trip to Lee Central on Friday night.

At the start of region play, Timberland is 4-1, Lake Marion and Lee Central are 3-2, Andrews and Kingstree are 1-4 and Lake City is 0-5.

At the halfway point of the season, Filmore is the leading rusher for Andrews with 560 yards. Wright had 366 yards.

Wright is 15-for-50 passing for 289 yards.

McCrea is the leading receiver with four catches for 150 yards. Cecil Murphy has two catches for 46 yards, Victor Mention has three for 38 yards, and Filmore has five for 35 yards.

McCrea leads the Andrews defense with 26 tackles, 17 assists and one sack. Fulton has 21 tackles, 15 assists and one sack; Grant had 20 tackles and 12 assists; Green had 19 tackles, 18 assists and five sacks; Antonio McCutchen has 17 tackles and 13 assists; Hudson has 15 tackles and 13 assists; and Mention has 14 tackles and 12 assists.
