Two people — including a man charged in connection with a 2007 murder — have been arrested for a shooting on Duke Street this week.
Georgetown Police Capt. Nelson Brown said Rashawn Quamaine Scott, 22, of Andrews, turned himself in Wednesday night after being on the run for two days. Brown said Scott is one of five people charged with the November 2007 shooting death of 30-year-old Brad Anderson, who was gunned down as he stood near the Georgetown Ice Co. at Five Points.
Brown said Scott and 22-year-old Alfonzo Giles, also of Andrews, were on Duke Street on Monday night when they allegedly opened fire on a parked vehicle in the 1900 block.
Brown said a man in the parked car was “grazed” in the rib area by a bullet which then hit a passenger. The bullet did not penetrate that man.
Scott and Giles were in a brown Crown Victoria which was spotted by Andrews police not long after the shooting.
A traffic stop was initiated but the driver did not stop. Andrews police chased the suspect for several minutes.
The chase ended in the area of West Elmwood and Harper Street with the suspects jumping from the car and running from the scene.
Giles was arrested Tuesday. He and Scott are charged with three counts of attempted murder since there were three people in the victim’s car when the gunfire occurred.
Brown said the incident stemmed from a fight earlier in the day but the man with whom Scott and Giles had been fighting was not in the car that was shot.
