No deal reached between steel union and management

As of now, ArcelorMittal-Georgetown will close July 12 as announced.
A meeting today between company and union officials did nothing to keep the plant in operation past that date, a union member said this afternoon.
As reported previously, the plant wants workers to take a $3.65 an hour pay cut whuch the workers said they will not do unless the company promises to remain open for an extended period. They also want a promise the money will be returned once economic conditions improve.
That has not happened and both sides are at a stalemate.

Why that amount? : 6/29/2009
For anyone curious about the amount, the $3.65 an hour is the pay increase that was received by the Union the end of last year.
