Two men who robbed the Carolinian Inn on Church Street in Georgetown at knifepoint were sentenced for the crime this week.
Georgetown SC — The 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office says Donovan Raheam Pringle, 21, of 337 E. Cherry St., was found guilty of armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
A jury handed down the verdict after hearing testimony in the case Tuesday.
Pringle was then sentenced to 20 years in prison.
His accomplice, Shane D'Vore Pringle-Tillman, 20, pled guilty and was also sentenced to 20 years.
According to police, the robbery occurred Dec. 23, 2008.
The clerk on duty said a man wearing a cap, blue bandana and gloves walked into the lobby and started asking something about room 222.
While that man was still at the counter, a second man — Tillman, wearing a red bandana — walked in and stood next to him.
The clerk told police it was at that point he knew he was about to be robbed. He said one man “vaulted over the counter” as the other man walked around the counter.
They forced the clerk into an office after they took money from the cash drawer. They then demanded to know the location of the safe. Moments later, one of the men grabbed the video surveillance camera and turned it around.
They took money from the safe and also took the clerk’s wallet and ran out the door. Altogether, they got away with more than $700 in cash.
