Waccamaw High's Tolley Rice signed to play tennis for Elon University in North Carolina on Friday.

"It's really exciting to finally be able to commit somewhere," Rice said. "It's been a lot of work for the past seven years. I'm really happy to finally reach my goal."

Rice won her fourth straight Class AA state singles title earlier this month. She also helped Waccamaw win multiple team titles.

Warriors coach Joan Cribb said Rice is "by far" the best female tennis player the school has ever seen.

"She has set a very high standard," Cribb said. "What do you say about somebody that is great, that is highly intelligent, [and] that is a super athlete?"

Rice only lost a handful of matches during her Waccamaw career, and they were usually during preseason tournaments, not when it really counted.

Rice said she accomplished everything she wanted to during her high school career.
