Two Georgetown women have been honored by the Coastal South Carolina Chapter of the Red Cross on April 24 at the 2008 Volunteer Recognition and Annual Meeting at Horry-Georgetown Technical College's Conference Center.
Awards included:
* The Erma L. Rosen Award for outstanding volunteerism -- Marcia Nellos of Georgetown.
* The Tillar Award for Public Relations -- Barbara Nuding of Georgetown.
* The Arthur P. Roehrl Lifetime Disaster Services Award -- Jo Hester of Surfside Beach.
* The Byron Finch Memorial Award in honor of an outstanding board member -- Jackie Welker of Myrtle Beach
* The Ron M. Ward Award for outstanding health and safety instructor -- Mark Horton of North Myrtle Beach
Mylle Swatko of Myrtle Beach, a longtime board member and volunteer, was named an honorary life member of the chapter's board of directors.
Swatko was one of 10 board members whose terms end June 30. Others include Ethel Brown and Victor Rowell from Williamsburg County; John Kiesling and Helen Rudolph from Georgetown County; and Beverly Jones, Bill McKown, Steve Talton, Jackie Welker and John Trudeau from Horry County.
Three new board members --Susan Mungo, safety specialist at Santee Cooper in Conway; Michael Caplan, vice president and general manager of WBTW-TV 13 in Myrtle Beach; and Neal Anderson, executive vice president of Anderson Brothers Bank in Hemingway -- were elected for three-year terms.
