Georgetown County investigators tracked down a woman a worker at Food
Lion in Pawleys Island was Brittanee Drexel, the missing New York girl.
The worker called deputies to the store at about 9 p.m., Jan. 13, because he thought he saw Drexel shopping that evening.
He
said he “was certain” the person he saw in the store was Drexel because
he passed by a billboard displaying her photo every day.
The worker said the woman he saw in the store was with a man.
He also said she was hesitant to show her identification at the register. Instead, the man she was with showed his ID.
The employee said he asked the woman if she was Drexel and she said “no.”
“The way she replied seemed suspicious,” the worker told deputies, the report states.
He said the couple left in a white Ford Mustang.
Sheriff’s
Office spokesman Lt. Neil Johnson said investigators obtained
information from the store and were able to locate the woman Wednesday
night and it was not Drexel.
Drexel was last seen leaving a Myrtle
Beach hotel in April. Since then numerous searches have taken place in
Horry, Georgetown and Charleston counties.

Urinating while intoxicated
A
man police say was highly intoxicated was arrested after he was seen
urinating on a fence at the Howard Adult Center at about 1:40 a.m. Jan.
15.
As the officer approached the 34-year-old man he could see his pants were wet and unzipped.
He claimed there were people after him but the officer didn’t see anyone else.
The man was taken to jail, charged with disorderly conduct.
Caught in the act
A 54-year-old Georgetown man was reportedly caught stealing from a house in the 3900 block of Highmarket Street.
The homeowners said they stopped by to check on the property and saw the suspect pulling a wagon full of items from their shed.
When asked what he was doing, the man said he was just getting some wood to burn.
However, it was more than wood in the wagon. The man was trying to take away a tool box and skill saw.
The suspect claimed he got those items somewhere else.
A neighbor said he has seen the suspect taking things from the shed several times.
Deputies
talked to the suspect who claims he was given permission to clear out
the shed by the owner. He said he and three other men have been taking
tools and selling them at a recycling shop.
The owners denied the man’s claim, so he was arrested for burglary.
Woman harassed
A woman who works at a Murrells Inlet liquor store called deputies Jan. 9 because of a man who was harassing her.
She said the man would come in the store drunk and start talking dirty.
She
said it has been getting worse recently with the man asking her out on
a date although she has told him repeatedly she is married.
The 30-year-old woman said the 58-year-old man “uses profanity and talks to her in a sexual manner that is unwanted.”
The woman said she has told the man he could no longer visit the store. She was advised to call 911 if he returns.
