Andrews police were sent to the 400 block of Rosemary Ave. Dec. 22 after someone stole a child’s present from under a Christmas tree.
A man said his 22-year-old daughter and her friend were the ones who took the toy, an 18-wheel truck in a carrying case.
The man said his daughter was in a bedroom with him while her friend was in the living room where the tree was located. He said he feels his daughter was deliberately distracting him while her friend took the toy.
The man said his daughter has stolen from him in the past so he wants to prosecute this time to teach her a lesson.

Dog call leads to
stolen vehicle

A Georgetown County deputy thought he was going on a routine dog-at-large call Dec. 22 but ended up recovering a stolen vehicle.
The officer was called to Island Signs Drive because a dog had chased a woman back to her vehicle.
While talking to witnesses, it was determined the dog belonged to a resident on that road.
The deputy saw a Lexus parked in the yard of the reported dog owner.
No one answered the door, so the deputy planned to call in the license tag number from the Lexus to identify the home owner. However, the car had no tag.
So, the Vehicle Identification Number was checked and it was learned the car had been reported stolen from Georgia.
Once the homeowners returned, they said the car was left there by another man they know. They said the man left the car there Thanksgiving weekend and never returned.
The couple was ticketed for allowing their dog to roam free but were not charged with having a stolen car.

Hospital disturbance

A 20-year-old man was taken to jail after causing problems in the Georgetown Memorial Hospital emergency room Saturday morning.
The man, according to hospital staff, was in the process of being discharged when he became impatient and started getting loud.
The man said he had to urinate but refused to go to the bathroom. Instead, he relieved himself on the bed.
He then started cursing at staff and refused to leave.
He was charged with disorderly conduct.

Dog attacks dog

A woman from Apache Road in Browns Ferry called 911 Dec. 22 because of dogs roaming free in her neighborhood.
She said a lab attacked a Beagle in her yard.
The injured dog, as well as the other animals that were running around, were taken to the animal shelter.

Teen threats

A 16-year-old female from Annie Village Road reported receiving more than 60 threatening phone calls from another 16-year-old girl.
The victim and suspect were advised to have no more contact with each other.

Drug possession

While on routine patrol Dec. 21, deputies saw a suspicious person walking on Jones Ave. in Andrews.
When they stopped to talk to the 30-year-old man, he ran from them.
He was quickly caught and handcuffed.
The man, whose slurred speech led the  officers to believe he was intoxicated, had a small bottle of crack cocaine in his pocket.
He was taken to jail.
