A 20-year-old Murrells Inlet woman, arrested for traffic violations March 28, is accused of assaulting a female jail worker.
During the booking process, the guard told the woman she had to take a shower. The woman said she was not going to shower and allegedly hit the guard in the chest area twice.
A female deputy responded and was shown the bruising sustained by the guard during the attack.
The suspect was placed in a cell and warrants charging her with assaulting an officer were expected to be filed.

Theft victim gives thief a chance

A Bullard Road man said a man and woman he knows stopped by his house April 1 to borrow $10.
They were accompanied by a woman he does not know.
He said they were in the house when he heard what sounded like someone rummaging through his garage.
Later that day he discovered items missing from his garage, including a gas fish cooker and propane tank, an ax and a gas tank for his boat.
The man said he would not press charges immediately. He said he is giving the suspects a “couple of weeks” to return the items. If they don’t, he will sign warrants.

Neighborhood flasher

A man from the 5100 block of Inlet Garden Court in Murrells Inlet told deputies his 43-year-old neighbor was outside urinating in a ditch.
The complainant said he feels the man is “doing this on purpose to get back at him because he and his mother asked (the suspect) to take down his fence off their property,” the report states.
The man said he has complained to his homeowners association about problems he has been having with the suspect but they have done nothing about it.
No charges were filed but the deputy did tell the suspect he needs to relieve himself in a bathroom, not outside.

The dog did it

A West Virginia Road woman told deputies she has been having problems with someone putting trash in her outdoor garbage can and knocking it over.
While at the woman’s house, a deputy spotted the possible culprits — two dogs.
The animals were pulling trash from the can that had been turned over.
The woman maintained she had seen a stranger putting trash in her can but noting was found that identified a possible suspect.

Stolen guns

A burglary was reported at a home in the 200 block of Muirfield Drive in Pawleys Island April 1.
It was determined someone entered the house through a window.
Six handguns were reported stolen from two different safes in the house.

Trooper crash

While transporting a 25-year-old Georgetown man to jail April 1, a Highway Patrol officer wrecked his vehicle on Brick Chimney Road.
He said the man he was transporting became irate and kicked the steering wheel causing the car to run in a ditch.
The offense of interfering with a driver was added to the man’s list of charges.

Stealing for child

Horry County police arrested a 38-year-old Myrtle Beach man who was caught shoplifting at the Garden City Walmart March 29.
Store security workers spotted the man attempting to steal a box of Legos.
He was detained after trying to walk out of the store without paying.
The man reportedly said he was trying to steal them for his child’s birthday.

Stolen golf cart found

On March 31, a Garden City man met with Horry County police and reported his golf cart stolen.
He said it was taken from his yard overnight March 30.
A few hours later, the man called police again because he spotted the golf cart in the parking lot of Up in Smoke smoke shop. Workers said the golf cart was left on the property by a man who had left the store about 20 minutes prior to the arrival of the officer.
The officer reviewed security camera video and the man is seen in the store. Workers said he has been in the store often but they do not know his name.
The case is still under investigation.

They took beer and a toothbrush

Items taken from a home on Boyle Drive in Pawleys Island during a burglary March 29 include beer and an electric toothbrush.
The man who owns the home in the 400 block said the front door had been forced open.
Other items taken include three TVs, a clock, a bicycle, a 24-pack of beer and various toiletry items.
There are no suspects.
