Two Georgetown High students — an 18- year-old and a juvenile — were arrested after a Valentine’s Day fight on a bus.
The fight, captured on the video camera at the front of the bus, reportedly began when the juvenile walked to the front of the vehicle to confront the 18-year-old.
The younger student pushed the 18-year-old who retaliated by grabbing the juvenile.
The two continued to fight until several adults were able to break them up.
Police and their parents were notified and were not only charged but have been recommended for expulsion.
The fight, according to the report, may have started over seating arrangements — and sunflower seeds.

Employee steals from co-workers, store

An employee of Belk’s Department Store was arrested Feb. 10 after allegedly stealing from the purse of a co-worker.
The accused man had been under suspicion for previous incidents, so the purse was set up in a manner to catch him in the act.
After he was caught, the man reportedly admitted to stealing from another worker and from the store, since September.

Man threatens ex-girlfriend

A 40-year-old Conway man is accused of harassing his ex-girlfriend, a 35-year-old Georgetown woman.
She told police she ended her relationship with the man in early February but he continues to call her and make threatening remarks.
The first call was on Valentine’s Day but the call she received the following day was more concerning. During that call, the man said he had been watching her and knew whose car was in her driveway.
During the call the man — arrested last year for stalking —  said he was going to “do something” and he prayed God would bless her every day she is alive.
Charges were expected to be filed against the man.

Mechanic didn’t do the job

A woman from Nesmith met with Georgetown police Feb. 15 and said a man she knows signed her insurance check and cashed it at a local bank.
The woman said the 32 year old Georgetown man was supposed to be working on her car, so she gave him the check to hold until the work was complete.
The man cashed the $488 check and the car still has not been repaired. The woman said she does want to prosecute.

Intoxicated threat-maker arrested

Central Dispatch received a call from a Bond Street residence Feb. 13 and the dispatcher could hear a woman screaming in the background.
When police arrived, they saw the woman “stagger into the road,” the report states.
The woman “appeared to be extremely intoxicated.”
The person who called 911 said the woman came to her home, threatened to kill everyone, and refused to leave.
The woman was arrested and was taken to jail where she allegedly lied when asked her name. A search of jail records turned up a photo of the woman and she was positively identified.
She was charged with disorderly conduct and with giving false information to police.

Information  is subject to change as the investigation proceeds. Individuals arrested and/or charged have not been convicted.
