Police Blotter: 'Burger flipping' at WHS

Article Content:

Eight Waccamaw High female students said they had been touched inappropriately on campus by a 15-year-old male student.
One of the teens said the suspect, on several occasions, has slapped the bottom of her breasts causing them to bounce. She said it is called “burger flipping.”
She also said the same male has tried hugging her several times and when he does, he grabs her rear end.
Some of the other teens said the same “burger flipping” incidents have happened to them. One teen said the suspect has never touched her breast but has grabbed her rear.
She said he, on one occasion, unstrapped her bra while hugging her.
The suspect was questioned by a deputy and school officials. He said some of the accusations are true but it happened “a while ago.”
The student was placed in a back room while awaiting the arrival of his parents.
The parents of the victims were also called and told they could press criminal charges. They decided not to have the student charged since he was being recommended for expulsion.

‘Spirits’ thief

A woman from the 800 block of Parkersville Road in Pawleys Island reported her home was burglarized Feb. 8.
The thief seemed to be after only one thing — adult beverages.
The only things missing were bottles of gin, vodka, Champagne and sparkling cider.
The woman gave the deputy the names of two people she feels may be to blame because they have asked for the bottles several times.

Stolen net

A McDonald Road man said he set his shad fishing net in the North Santee River Feb. 9 and when he returned the next morning the 70-yard-long net was gone.
The man said there has been trouble in the past with people stealing shad nets so he planned to talk with a game warden about the matter.

Contraband found

A 24-year-old Andrews man was being booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center Feb. 8 after being arrested by the Drug Enforcement Unit.
As he was being searched, a bag of marijuana was found in the man’s pants pocket which was given to a deputy.
There was also a prescription bottle with his name on it in his pocket.
This was given to the nurse so his medicine could be administered as prescribed.
No one looked inside the bottle.
When the nurse went to the man’s cell to give him his medicine, she opened the bottle and saw it contained even more marijuana.
That was also turned over to a deputy to be placed into evidence.

Odd graffiti

A woman from Birch Ave. in Andrews arrived home Feb. 8 and saw someone had used an ink pen to write several things on the door of her trailer.
The person wrote “I know you love me” and “I’ll hurt somebody for your love.”
The woman said she also found a Bible on the top of her car and an empty picture frame on the license plate.
She said she has no idea who may be responsible.
