Elizabeth Byrum
A memorial service for Elizabeth Luthi Byrum “Sister,” 64, of Chapin, S.C. will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at Washington Street United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

Mrs. Byrum was born July 19, 1948 in Kingstree, S.C. and passed away on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. She was a daughter of the late E. Benjamin Luthi and Margaret Altman Luthi.
She was a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, James David Byrum; daughter, Margo Byrum Weir (Matt) of Roseville, Calif.; a brother, George P. Luthi (Suzan) of Statesville, N.C.; a sister, Melanie Luthi Goins (Edward) of Georgetown, S.C.; grandchildren, Kennedy Elizabeth Weir and Karsen Emma Weir of Roseville; five nieces and one nephew, all whom love their special Sissy.
She was predeceased by her father; mother and brother, Gordon B. Luthi.
The family would like to expresses their deepest gratitude to Dr. Steven Madden, Nurse Sharon Nipper, and the entire oncology staff at Lexington Medical Center for the positive effect and motivational influence they had, not only on Sister, but the rest of the family over the past three years.
Betty Cooper
Betty Skipper Cooper, 76, of Georgetown, S.C. passed away on August 31, 2012, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mrs. Cooper was born on Sept. 8, 1935, in Neeses, S.C.
She was the daughter of the late George Leo Skipper and Omitt Walters Skipper.
Mrs. Cooper was a member of Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church and the Seniors Sunday School class.
She loved to read, and enjoyed cross word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Keith “Skippy” Branham (Pam) and Jack B. Coker, Jr. both of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Winston Chase Downing, Matthew Skipper Branham, Jack B. “Trey” Coker III, and Kelby Drew Branham, all of Georgetown; two sisters, Alberta S. Bratcher of Georgetown, Wyllene Skipper of Hot Springs, N.C.; and two brothers, William E. Skipper (Mary) of Georgetown and Thomas E. Skipper (Joyce) of Andrews.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Jack B. Coker Sr. and William Eugene Cooper; and two sisters, Myrtle S. Price and Mary S. Howard.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Georgetown Pentecostal Holiness Church in Georgetown, with the Rev. Mr. Lonnie Brazell, Rev. Mr. Clide Glover, Rev. Mr. Billy Miles and Rev. Ms. Wyllene Skipper officiating.
The family received friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Doris Cottingham
Doris Carolyn Campbell Cottingham, wife of Wallace R. Cottingham, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown, S.C.
Mrs. Cottingham was born on October 18, 1928, in Bethune, S.C., a daughter of the late Eddie Dubose and Mamie Rebecca Stewart Campbell.
She was a graduate of Winyah High School and a lifelong homemaker.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 65 years, are two sons, Ted Wallace Cottingham of Greer and Kevin Mark Cottingham and his wife Angela of Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren, Christopher Devin Cottingham and Nicole Lorraine Cottingham, both of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Betty Jean C. Wiggins and her husband Tallie of Andrews; and a brother, Charles Eddie Campbell of Little Rock, Ark.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jennings Dubose Campbell.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 in the Graham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Thomas A. Summers and Chaplain Billy Miles officiating.

Ida J. Hughes
Ida J. Hughes, 79, of Hemingway, S.C. died on Thursday, August 30, 2012 in Hemingway, S.C.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel with burial following in Bryant Family Cemetery, Hemingway, S.C.
Mrs. Hughes was born January 27, 1933 in Georgetown, SC to Paul Jefferson Bryant and Mrs. Sophie Polite Bryant. She was a retired housekeeper.
Survivors include her son, William Hughes of Hemingway, S.C.; two daughters, Carlease Bellamy of Sickerlerville, N.J. and Belinda Hughes of Hemingway, S.C.; her brother, Freddie Bryant of Hampton, Va.; three sisters, Anna Belle Rice and Geraldine Aklin of Hemingway, S.C. and Nancy Davis of the Yahanna Community.
Funeral services were entrusted to Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
Robert Maglich Jr.
Robert Walter Maglich Jr. of Andrews, S.C. passed away Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012 at Laurel Bay Healthcare Center in Blackville.
Born on February 27, 1946, in Kennesaw, Ga., he was a son of the late Robert Walter Maglich Sr. and the late Charlotte Cantrell Woodward.
Mr. Maglich was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Andrews.
Survivors include two children, Robert Shane Maglich (April) and Chris Trent Graham, both of Andrews; nine grandchildren, Dustin Maglich, Damien Maglich, Dalton Maglich, Dayton Maglich, Dane Maglich, Trent Graham, Silas Graham and Christian Graham.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mary Scharlau
Mary Virginia McKay Scharlau, 71, the wife of Elwin “Dutch” Scharlau of 57 years, passed away on August 31, 2012 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Born on December 11, 1940, in Hollywood, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Arthur McKay and Olive McKay.
Mrs. Scharlau attended the United Methodist Church in Medina, N.Y.
She was a retired CNA for the Orchard Manor Nursing Home in New York.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Scharlau (Annette) and David Scharlau, both of Georgetown; two daughters Melody Sturkie (Charles) of Georgetown and Dawn Breed (Roger) of Tampa, Fla.; and eight grandchildren, Haley Scharlau, Phillip Breed, Adam Breed, Stephanie Scharlau, Amber Miller, Cody Ruthowski, Mindy Edge and Joel Edge.
She was preceded in death by a son, Scott Scharlau.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, 2012 at Graham Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating.
The family received friends immediately following the service at Graham Funeral Home.

Elfriede Tanner
Elfriede “Ellen” Illg Tanner, 86, of Andrews, S.C. died Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mrs. Tanner was born in Stuttgart, Germany on July 29, 1926, a daughter of the late Friedrich and Maria Groetzinger Illg.
She served in the German Army during World War II, when she met her late husband, Wade Erskine Tanner, who was an American soldier.
Her love for him was so great that she married him and left her family and country to come to America.
Mrs. Tanner was a devoted wife and loving mother.
She constantly did for others throughout her lifetime.
Mrs. Tanner was previously employed by Royce Green Motor Company and the Exchange Bank, and retired from General Telephone Company after 25 years.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was president of Forever Young and a member and secretary of the Rachel Rebecca Circle.
Mrs. Tanner also served as a Cub Scout den mother.
Surviving are two sons, Siegfried “Siggi” E. Tanner (Patsy) of Columbia and Mark D. Tanner of Andrews; a daughter, Susan T. Beard (Austin) of Andrews; three grandchildren, Wade Austin Beard of Alpharetta, Ga., Shannon Bozard (Jay) and Ashley Foster (Greg), both of Columbia; and two great-grandchildren, Tanner Bozard and Hampton Foster.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Tanner was predeceased by two step-sisters and a step-brother.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Sept. 5, 2012, at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Burial will follow at Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church Family Life Center.

Alfonza Terrell Thomas, 25, of Georgetown, S.C. died on Thursday, August 30, 2012 in Georgetown, S.C.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.
Mr. Thomas was born on July 19, 1987 in Columbia, S.C. to Alfonza Dennison and Valerie Thomas.
He worked as a duct installer with RC Jacobs.
He was a member of First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Valerie Thomas and sister, Meyon Thomas, both of Georgetown, S.C.
