John Elliott Jr.
John Samuel Elliott Jr., 87, the beloved husband of Mary Bell McCants Elliott of Andrews, S.C., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, September 25, 2012, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Elliott was born the son of John Samuel Elliott Sr. and Janie McCants Elliott on September 10, 1925 in Williamsburg County.
He was a retired employee of International Paper where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
He was a World War II Army veteran and was a member of the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He was a avid hunter and fisherman.
John and Mary Bell were married on November 10, 1950 and celebrated 61 years together.
Their home was blessed with three children, Joyce (Jim) Holland, Peggy (Silas) Lambert, and Lisa (Tim) Wildes; six grandchildren, Kimberly (James) Wilson, Kevin (Wendy) Lambert, Elliott Holland, Natalie Holland, Trevor Wildes, and Lacey Wildes; and seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jordyn, and Logan Wilson, Annabell, Kamryn, and Emmalee Lambert, and Joey Wildes.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Doris “Doc” Elliott, Felder “Red” Elliott, and Jack Elliott Sr.; and three sisters, Cecelia Figgins, Earline Martin, and Alberta Marsh.
A Going Home Celebration will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Interment will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening, September 27, 2012, at the Andrews Chapel.
