James Brown

James Liston Brown, 91, of Hartsville, S.C. died Friday, March 9, 2012, at his residence.
Mr. Brown was born on Friday, March 18, 1920, in Conway, S.C., to J. Eddie Brown and Melanie (“Mellie”) Beverly Brown. 
He graduated from Clemson University with a BS degree in agronomy. 
He joined the Army Air Corps and served as a pilot during World War II in the European Theatre. 
He married Mable Barnes Brown of Georgetown, S.C. 
They were married for 62 years until her death in April 2008. 
Jim worked for Coker Pedigree Seed Company as an agronomist working on the scientific breeding of hardier, more disease-resistant plants to improve greater yields for farmers. 
He retired in the 1980s. In retirement he found great pleasure in gardening, fishing, ballroom dancing with Mable, and spending time with his family and friends. 
Mr. Brown was an avid fan and supporter of all Clemson sports. Spending time with his grandchildren, watching and attending Atlanta Braves games, and tending a garden were favorite pastimes. 
He was a patient and caring man whose steady, quiet guidance will be missed. 
He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Lydia, SC.
His son, James Robert Brown, of Hartsville; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Deborah Brown of Cumming, Ga.; granddaughter, Dorian Alyson Brown of Newnan, Ga.; son-in-law, Charles “Beau” Smith and grandson, Julian Smith, of Smyrna, Ga.; and special family friend and caregiver, Betty Carter, survive him. 
His spouse, Mable, and daughter, Dr. Carolyn Anne Brown Smith, preceded Jim in death.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, March 18, 2012, at Union United Methodist Cemetery in Georgetown. 
Officiating will be the Rev. Andrea Davis.
The family will receive visitations and offer a memorial celebration for the life of James L. Brown from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, March 15, 2012, at Black Creek Arts Center, 116 W. College Ave. in Hartsville.

Earl Hensley

Mr. Earl Eugene Hensley, 82, of Villa Rica, Ga. passed away, Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Douglas Wellstar Hospital.
He was born on March 11, 1929, in Chattanooga, Tenn., the son of the late Mr. George Earl Hensley and the late Mrs. Pearl Elizabeth McAmish Hensley. 
He was a retired banker with the Sun Trust Bank and attended Ephesus Baptist Church in Winston, Ga..
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence Earl Hensley.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances Wilson Hensley of Villa Rica; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet Marie and Michael Howard of Marietta; sons and daughters-in-law, Alan Eugene and Amanda Hensley of Villa Rica, John Mark and Renee’ Hensley of Georgetown, S.C. and Mary Sally Hensley of LaGrange; eight grandchildren, Chad and Katie Hensley, Jonathan Hensley, Jacob Giammarco, Megan Giammarco, Lauren Hensley, Taylor Hensley, Christopher Howard and Chris Hensley; two great-grandchildren, Lillie Rose Hensley and Braiden Smith.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Ga.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Hensley and Dr. Billy Godwin officiating. 
Entombment services will follow at 3 p.m. at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in LaGrange.
