FUNERAL SERVICES
Richard Camlin Jr.
Dr. Richard Manning Camlin, Jr., 71, of Georgetown died Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Tidelands Hospice after a long illness.
Born in Georgetown July 31, 1938, he was the son of the late Richard Manning Camlin, Sr. and Hattie Platt Camlin.
He attended Georgetown County public schools and graduated from the Citadel in 1960 where he received a degree in Pre-Med. After a year of Masters study at USC, he returned to Charleston and graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1965, where he served as Chief Resident.
From 1966 to 1967, Dr. Camlin served the Army in Vietnam as a Captain, but was referred to as Bac si-Dai uy (Boxi –Daiwi), “Doctor-Captain.” He was a member of the 23rd Artillery Group which was adopted by Gadsden, Alabama.
He served as a doctor in what became known as Gadsden Village and designed the medical dispensary for the village that was the model for all of South Vietnam. Due to its importance, many foreign dignitaries visited the model.
Dr. Camlin took care of many of the visitors during their stay including Lana Turner, John Steinbeck and Henry Fonda, with whom he played cards. The Legion of Merit was awarded to him for his service.
Returning to Georgetown in December 1971, Dr. Camlin practiced Internal Medicine taking care of the people he loved until 2008. He was Chief of Staff at Georgetown Memorial Hospital until he became a board member of the hospital, were he served for more than 20 years.
He founded Hospice of Georgetown with one of his former school teachers, Mabel Hamilton. He was a communicant of Prince George, Winyah Episcopal Church, The Georgetown Cotillion Club where served as President and a member of the Winyah Indigo Society.
Dr. Camlin was predeceased by a brother, Carl Edward Camlin (Yvonne).
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Darden Fowler Camlin; two children, Richard Manning Camlin III and Caroline Camlin Hagler (Glenn); two grandchildren, Lillian Hayes Hagler and William McDowell Hagler; a sister, Ruth Ann Koerber (Harry); and two nieces and a nephew.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2010, at the graveside in Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Churchyard.
Officiating was the Rev. Paul C. Fuener and the Rev. Andrew J. Morgan.

Ednee Coker
Ednee Myrtle McCants Coker, 88, of Andrews, the widow of James Cullie Coker, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, January 2, 2010, at the Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mrs. Coker was born the daughter of Edwin Nettles McCants and Myrtle Nesmith McCants on July 24, 1921, in Kingstree, SC.
She was a graduate of the Indiantown High School; was a sales clerk; was the owner and operator of a local gift shop; and retired after 25-year service with B.C. Moores & Son.
Mrs. Coker was a faithful member of the Spring Gulley Baptist Church serving in the Women’s Mission Union and in numerous positions and capacities over the years. She will be remembered for her loving and compassionate life, full of acts of kindness toward others.
She leaves behind her beloved daughter, Julia “Burba” (Bernice) Cooper; two grandsons, Gary L. (Penny) Cooper and James Wesley (Etau) Cooper; and four grandchildren, Tyler, Katelyn, Christina, and Leah.
Mrs. Coker was predeceased by her parents; her husband; one brother, Edwin McCants; and two sisters, Wilma Lynn Brown and Faye Glidden.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the Spring Gulley Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening, January 4, 2010, at the Andrews Chapel.

Steven Graham
Mr. Steven Allen Graham, 42, of the Big Dam Community, Andrews, SC, departed this life on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Ashley River Tower, Charleston, SC.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 at W. J. McKnight & Son Chapel in Andrews, SC with Rev. Dr. Jamey Graham, officiating.
Burial followed in Wallace Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.
Mr. Graham, son of Rev. Silas and Evangelist Virginia Graham, was born November 16, 1967 in Philadelphia, PA. He received his education in Georgetown County schools.
Survivors are his parents, Rev. Silas and Evangelist Virginia Graham, Andrews, SC; five sons, Steven Dewayne Graham, Sheldon S. Graham, Victor T. Graham and Steven Marquez Graham, all of Andrews, SC and Stephen Allen Graham, Moncks Corner, SC; one daughter, Kayla A. Graham, Andrews, SC; his wife, Elizabeth G. Graham, Andrews, SC; two brothers, Gregory Graham, Charlotte, NC and Vincent Graham, Plantersville, SC; and one sister, Angela Scott, Andrews, SC.
Allan Huestis
Allan Charles Huestis, 72, husband of Donna Jean Huestis, died Thursday, December 31, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Dave Hoskins, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2010 in the chapel of Graham Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Huestis was born April 11, 1937 in Battleground, Washington, a son of the late Glenn Richard Huestis and the late Marie Margaret Meier Huestis.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Huestis was a generous man who participated in many walk-a-thons and was a handyman who enjoyed building projects for family and friends. He was constantly learning and passed his time reading, camping, and RVing, taking many trips with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Donna Jean Huestis; his daughter, Rhonda Jean (Victor Todd) Edens of Greenville; his son, Ricky Allan (Kristi Mercer) Huestis of Myrtle Beach; his granddaughter, Emily Ann Huestis of Myrtle Beach ; four brothers, Glenn R. Huestis, Paul M. Huestis, Joseph F. Huestis, all of Washington State, and Robert E. Huestis of Alaska; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Edward Huestis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at the funeral home.

Angela Jackson
Angela Floyd Jackson, 46, of Andrews died January 2, 2010.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Jacksonville, N.C. on July 19, 1963, a daughter of Homer Harold Floyd and Evelyn Lambert Floyd.
She lived all of her life in Georgetown County and was a graduate of Andrews Academy. Mrs. Jackson was a member of Black River Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her parents of Andrews are her husband, Ronnie L. Jackson of Andrews; two sons, Robert Blaine Floyd (Brandi) and Christopher Dean Jackson, both of Andrews; a brother, Timothy H. Floyd (Susie) of Andrews; two sisters, Lisa F. Wildes (Mark) of Andrews and Amy F. Ward (Jacob) of Georgetown; four nephews; six nieces; one step-granddaughter; two great nephews; and other loving family members.
Mrs. Jackson was predeceased by grandparents, Willie T. (Buster) and Mae C. Lambert, and Dexter O. and Ruth B. Floyd.
Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon, January 5, 2010, at 2 p.m. in The Christian Fortress.
Officiating will be the Rev. Geraldine Bednego.
Burial will follow in Piney Forest Cemetery.

Andy Lambert
Mark Anthony “Andy” Lambert, 59, died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at his residence.
Mr. Lambert was born in Georgetown on March 15, 1950, a son of the late Sammy Lee Lambert and Bertha Neolia Hayes Lambert.
He graduated from Winyah High School and attended Horry-Georgetown Technical College and Florence-Darling Technical College. Mr. Lambert was a former employee of Georgetown County Environmental Services.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Louis Legare Lambert and Ernest Leroy Lambert Sr.
Surviving are: a sister, Vicky E. Livingston of Georgetown; six nephews, Michael A. Livingston, Roger Lambert, Eugene Lambert and Edward Lambert, all of Georgetown, Ernest Leroy Lambert Jr. of Hinesville, Ga., and Jason Lee Wrenn of Beaufort; two nieces, Sandra M. DeMonje of Washington, D.C. and Patti Stanley of Florence; two sister-in-laws, Sarah R. Lambert and Marlyn Jean Lambert, both of Georgetown; three great-nieces; two great-nephews; three great-great-nieces; and four great-great-nephews.

Celia Merriweather
Celia Merriweather, 86, of Andrews, SC, departed this life on Friday, December 25, 2009 at Prince George Nursing Home, Georgetown, SC.
Funeral Services were held at 1 pm Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Mt. Zion AME Church in the Bloomingvale Community, Andrews with Rev. McNeil Evans, officiating.
Burial followed in the Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.
Mrs. Merriweather, daughter of the late Elliott and Florie Ervin, was born August 29, 1923 in the Bloomingvale Community. She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church and was educated in Williamsburg County Schools.
Survivors are one son, James Scott, Miami, FL; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Georgia Pressley
Funeral services for the late Georgia “Precious” Anna Pressley will be held 11 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2010 at Way of the Cross Church in Nesmith, SC.
Elder Joe Gamble, pastor, will conduct the religious services.
Internment will follow in Friendship Cemetery.
Mrs. Pressley entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence after an illness. She was born in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Jack and Anna Cooper.
She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County and was a graduate of Brown High School, earning her BS degree from Chaflin College.
Mrs. Pressley moved to Washington, D.C., attending Little Rock Church of Christ and returned in 1996 to join Nesmth’s Way of the Cross Church. There, she served as Usher and a member of the Missionary Department.
In Wachington, D.C., she was employed with the public school system and worked 25 years with the FBI.
She was joined in holy wedlock to the late Eddie Lucious Pressley and to this union three children were born.
Loving memories will be cherished by one daughter, LaTanya (Kenneth) Pelham of Upper Marlboro, MD; two sons, Michael (Andrea) Pressley of Upper Marlboro, MD and Cornelius (Wanda) Pressley of Lake City; three sisters, Mary (John) Singletary of Lake City, Mae (William) Bradshaw of Lake City and Dorothy Richards of New York; two brothers, Robert (Sylvia) Lee Williams of Lake City and Harry Williams of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Leonard Roach
Commander Leonard Thomas Roach, 65, died Friday, January 1, 2010 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Commander Roach was born August 4, 1944 in New Orleans, La.
He was the son of the late Leonard Hunter and Lucille French Roach of Asheville, N.C. Commander Roach was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N. C. with a degree in Chemistry.
He served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy.
Surviving are his son, Scott Marney Roach of Georgetown; a daughter, Heather Roach Koepnick of Athens, Ga.; two sisters, Carol Pease and Mary Jane Sasnett, both of Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Frank Roach of Atlanta, Ga.; and three grandchildren, Scott Tyler of Savannah, Ga. and Lynn and Seth Christopher Roach of Georgetown.
Funeral services will be Monday, January 4, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church.
Rev. Paul C. Fuener, Rev. Andrew J. Morgan, and Frank Roach will officiate.
Inurnment will be in the church columbarium.

Odean Smith
Odean Huggins Smith, 93, of Andrews, widow of George Harvey Smith Jr., died Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Smith was born in Hemingway, S.C. on July 4, 1916, a daughter of the late George Anderson Huggins and Sephey Brown Huggins.
She was a graduate of Hemingway High School and received a diploma from Southeastern Commercial College in 1935.
In 1938, she married George Harvey Smith Jr. and moved to the Andrews area.
She was employed for a number of years by Oneita Knitting Mills and later by Andrews Nursery.
She was a long-time faithful member of Elim United Methodist church in Andrews, serving as a teacher and leader in the church’s Sunday School, Bible School, youth groups and choir.
Surviving are her two daughters, Rebecca Smith Mixon (Phillip) and Susan Smith, both of Andrews; four grandchildren, Ken Mixon (Nalani) of Columbia, LaTosha Glisson of Andrews, Natalie Poston (Lee) of Johnsonville and Bethany Moore (Justin) of Andrews; eight great-grandchildren, Kendall and Wallace Mixon, Jessica and Matthew Gabel, Austin and Nicholas Thomas, and Heath and Greyson Moore; her brother, Philip Huggins of Hemingway; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Huggins of Hemingway.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 4, 2010, at Elim United Methodist Church, 8897 Thurgood Marshall Hwy., Andrews.
Burial will follow in the Churchyard.

James Wilder Sr.
James Edward Wilder Sr., 79, the husband of Dianne Smith Wilder of Andrews, passed away Friday morning, January 1, 2010, at the VA Hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Wilder was born the son of Richard Edward Wilder and Mary Jane Blakley Wilder on October 2, 1930, in Georgetown, SC.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict during which time he became a Golden Glode boxer.
He was a retired construction worker and attended the Antioch Pentecostal Holiness Church.
James and Dianne were married on June 30, 1978 and celebrated 31 years together.
Mr. Wilder leaves behind his beloved wife and seven children, Jimmy (Holly) Wilder, Sue (Mike) Holcombe, Ricky Wilder, Cathy (Dave) Owens, Kristi L. Wilder, Andy (Krickett) Baylor, and Darlene (Logan) Ackerman; 10 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Also surviving is one sister, Lewanna (Raymond) Wilder-Kennedy.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2010, in the Spring Pond Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in the church cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
