Geneva Pinckney
Mrs. Geneva Pinckney, 71, of 681 North Beech Avenue, Andrews, SC, departed this life on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at MUSC, Charleston, SC.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2010 at Mt. Zion AME Church in the Bloomingvale Community, Andrews, SC with Evangelist Chernee Harris, officiating.
Burial follows in the Church Cemetery under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.
Mrs. Pinckney, daughter of the late English and Bula Dicker McCray was born July 12, 1938 in Kingstree, SC.
She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church, she received education in Williamsburg County Public Schools.
Survivors are her husband, Allen Pinckney, Jr. Andrews, SC, her children, Pastor Georgetta Wilson, Joann Moore, Clifford McCray, Evangelist Chernee Harris of Andrews, SC, Johnnie Mae Edmond, St. Matthews, SC, Betty Pinckney of New York, Marie Martin of Florida; her sisters and brothers, Nita Bell Pressley, Andrews, SC, Anna Lee Pressley, Darlington, SC, Elijah McCray, Hampton, VA, John Brockington of New York; 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Jeff Powers
Jefferson “Jeff” L. Powers, 87, husband of Agnes C. Powers of Georgetown, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Tidelands Hospice House.
A committal service, directed by Graham Funeral Home, was held in Elmwood Cemetery at 10 am on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 prior to the memorial service at 11 am at Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Powers was born March, 9, 1922 in Loris, South Carolina, a son of the late Frank R. Powers and the late Ruth Todd Powers.
He was a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon, elder and trustee.
He was also a U.S. Marine veteran of WWII, a member of the V.F.W. #6444, American Legion #114, Masonic Lodge AFM #40, Omar Temple of Charleston, SC, Marine Corps League, and S.C. Field Trial Association. Jeff was an avid sportsman with a great love for his dogs and horses.
He bred and trained kind dogs and was honored by being inducted into the S.C. National Field Trial Association Hall of Fame. He enjoyed gardening and loved to graft and grow Camellias.
Jeff was retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after 25 years and with the Sheriffs Department of Georgetown.
Jeff is survived by his wife of 61 years; one brother, Carl A. Powers of Everett, Washington; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant son, two brothers, Lloyd V. Powers and Charles F. Powers; and one sister, Rose Mae Vaught.

Lucian Rice
Lucian Rice, 85 of Georgetown, SC, died on January 11, 2010 in Georgetown, SC.
Funeral services for Mr. Rice will be held 1 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010 at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Georgetown, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Rice was born August 1, 1924 in Georgetown, South Carolina to the marital union between Mrs. Isabella Holmes Rice and Merriman Rice. He retired after working several years with Georgetown Steel Corporation.
Mr. Rice is survived by his children: Ezekiel, Lucious, Marvin, James, Stephen, and Rivers Rice, Julie Warren, Isabella Funnye, Evonne Brantley, Hortense Skinner, and Tina Rice.
Family visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday evening, January 14, 2010 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.
