FUNERAL SERVICES
Roger Baylor
Roger Marion Baylor, 62, the husband of Carrie M. Baylor of Georgetown, entered into eternal rest Thursday morning, December 2009, at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Mr. Baylor was born the son of John Henry Baylor and Frances Ellen Cantley Baylor on January 1, 1947, in Andrews.
He was a fork lift operator for Charleston Heart Pine and was a member of the Bloomingvale Baptist Church.
Roger and Carrie were married on June 1, 1973, and celebrated 36 years together.
From this blessed union survive two sons, Roger Gordon (Krystal) Baylor and Martin Van “Marty” (Kimberly) Baylor; and three grandchildren, C.J. Baylor, Brittney Baylor, and “Little Marty” Baylor.
Also surviving are five brothers, JaRue (Betty Mae) Baylor, Deams (Johnnie Mae) Baylor, Sherwin Baylor, Ernest (Jill) Baylor, and Walter (Sheila) Baylor; and four sisters, Inez Poston, Loretta Martin, JoAnn (Ricky) Harrington, and Donna Jean (Danny) Cox.
He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Horace Baylor and Loren Baylor.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2009, at the Bloomingvale Baptist Church, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation was immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall.

Ed Dickerson Jr.
Edmundson Luther Dickerson Jr. of Pawleys Island, born May 5, 1930 in Christiansburg, Virginia, went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 11, 2009 at Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, after a long and valiant struggle with cancer.
Ed was a graduate of Christiansburg High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech. in 1951.
Ed worked for the U.S. Naval Gun Factory in Washington, D.C., and for 33 years as a manager at General Electric Drives Systems in Salem, Va.
In 1991 he retired and moved with his wife, Barbara, to Pawleys Island, where he enjoyed living and playing golf on Seagull Golf Course.
Ed loved the Lord, and spent most of his life serving God in the church.
He served as an elder at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, Va. for many years, and was on the leadership team at Victory Christian Fellowship in Georgetown.
He and Barbara spent many years as leaders of Lay Renewal Ministries.
Ed is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Pannell Dickerson; by children, the Rev. Dr. Linda Dickerson and spouse, Doug Rathjen, David Dickerson and spouse, Susan Dickerson, and Susan Walrond and spouse, Col. Tom Walrond.
Ed's quiver was full of grandchildren, Capt. Aaron Teller and spouse, Mary Teller, Matthew Dickerson, Pvt. Wesley Dickerson and spouse, Kendall Dickerson, Lt. Zachary Walrond and spouse, Aubrielle, Lt. Kayla Walrond and spouse, Sgt. Phil Judge, Lt. Tyler Walrond, Alexa Walrond, Josiah Walrond, Lauren Walrond, and Olivia Xin Rui Walrond.
He has one great-grandchild, Melanie Rose Dickerson.
He is also survived by his sister, Irene Hogue, of Richmond, Va., and her family.
Ed is remembered and loved by many people in Christiansburg, Roanoke, Pawleys Island, and Georgetown as a wise, funny, compassionate, and gentle man who loved and followed Jesus Christ, and exemplified loving God with his heart, soul, mind, and strength and loving his neighbor.
He was a selfless volunteer, and local nursing homes often enjoyed his karaoke programs. His family, friends, and his little dog, Buddy, will miss him forever.
Visiting hours were Saturday, December, 12, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Victory Christian Fellowship, 58 Academy Ave. Georgetown, SC.
Funeral services were Sunday, December 13, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Victory Christian Fellowship, Pastor Rod Reid officiating.
Interment, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, Va.

Vernon Parker Jr.
Vernon M. Parker Jr., 86, of Georgetown, widower of Gertrude Ackerman Parker, died Saturday December 12, 2009 in Tidelands Hospice House.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2009 in First Baptist Church of Georgetown. Officiating will be Dr. Ted Sherrill. Burial, directed by Graham Funeral Home, will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Parker was born July 10, 1923 in Avon Lake, Ohio, a son of the late Vernon Marcus Parker, Sr. and the late Eugenia Medley Parker.
He was a decorated veteran of World War II where he was awarded the Bronze Star while serving in the Army’s 87th Infantry.
Mr. Parker was a retired service manager with Rodwell Pontiac of Georgetown.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Georgetown, Fellowship Sunday School, and the Young as Ever Club.
Mr. Parker was involved in many charitable organizations including Winyah Masonic Lodge No. 40 AFM, Omar Shrine Temple in Mt. Pleasant, and the Georgetown Memorial Hospital Auxillary.
Surviving are one son, Vernon M. Parker III and his wife Lillian of Georgetown; grandchildren, James M. Parker of Cookeville, TN and Lucy Parker of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Joan P. Bensinger of Lodi, OH and Jean P. Joyce of Scott Depot, WV; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife and parents, he was predeceased
by three sisters, Maryetta Parker, Faye Remington, and Betty Boyes; and three brothers, Ray Parker, Bill Parker, and Jerry Parker.
