New Target store in Surfside opens

The trip to a Target store got a lot shorter this week for residents and visitors in Georgetown and southern Horry counties.
The new 135,000-square-foot store at Sayebrook Town Center off S.C. Highway 544 opened its doors at 5 p.m. Tuesday following a brief ribbon cutting ceremony.
Manager Danielle Flores said the store currently has 175 employees and was developed by The Jackson Companies, which is developing the Sayebrook Town Center.
Along with the usual groceries and merchandise sold at other Target stores, it also has a pharmacy, a Starbucks and Pizza Hut.
The same shopping complex will soon be home to a Marshalls Home Goods — opening Thursday — and a Petco, opening Sept. 19.
The chain also has a store on Seaboard Street in Myrtle Beach.
