A murder case deliberated by a Georgetown County jury last week ended in a mistrial after the panel was unable to reach a decision.
Terron Gerhard Dizzley, 34, of Orangeburg was on trial for the shooting death of 31-year-old Aundry Nathaniel Evans Jr.
Evans was shot several times while he was inside the Paradise Club in the Oatland Community at about 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 1, 2008.
Dizzley turned himself in on Dec. 12, 2008.
Attorney Charles Barr of Kingstree, who represents Dizzley, said about half a dozen witnesses were called to the stand in the trial.
The jury then deliberated for more than 12 hours over a two-day period before a mistrial was declared.
Barr said he feels both the prosecution and law enforcement did a good job with the case “with what they had to work with.”
“You can’t prove every case,” he said. “The evidence has to be such that it persuades a jury of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.”
Barr said no decision has been made about whether the case will be tried again.
