A 38-year-old Georgetown County man has been charged with burglary, attempted criminal sexual assault and other offenses in connection with an incident reported Sunday.
Jamal Beckman, of Williams Hill Drive, was arrested Wednesday morning.
A 32-year-old Pleasant Hill area woman, described in the incident report as an acquaintance of Beckman, said she got out of the shower Sunday and Beckman was standing naked in front of her bathroom door. She said she knew who he was because they went to school together.
The woman said she asked Beckman what he was doing and he put a bag over her mouth.
“If you don’t give me what I want, I will take you and your grandmother,” Beckman reportedly told the victim.
The victim’s grandmother then gave Beckman some money, the report states, and he then told her to go to her room.
The woman said she started struggling with Beckman and tried stomping on his feet. She said because he was so sweaty, she was able to get loose and she ran to her parent’s house next door and called 911.
Beckman reportedly got dressed and fled the scene in a vehicle.
The woman did not require medical attention, although she did suffer pain in her leg.
Deputies say nothing was found to indicate any forced entry into the home but the woman said she remembers locking the door.
The bag Beckman reportedly placed over the woman’s mouth, as well as a bottle of lotion, were both taken as evidence.
Beckman is additionally charged with kidnapping and driving an uninsured vehicle.
