Pawleys Island's Fighting Marlins of Lowcountry Prep lost a pair of games Friday and Saturday.

On Friday the boys' varsity lost 79-41 at Palmetto Christian Academy. The next night, the Fighting Marlins kept the score closer, but still lost to Myrtle Beach Christian 58-44.

"Palmetto Christian jumped out to an early lead and we weren't able to counter," coach Kacy Gunter said.

"PCA is the top team in the region and it showed."

Blake Hurston and Unique Gardner scored 13 points each in the game, and Carey Grabeman added 11 more.

"Saturday night (against Myrtle Beach Christian) we got out to a great start and went into half-time down six to the reigning state champions," Gunter said.

"Blake Hurston had another great game but they pulled away in the third quarter," Gunter said.

Hurston scored 16 points and Gardner was close behind at 13 points.

Lowcountry Prep was scheduled to play Cathedral Academy Monday, Palmetto Christian Tuesday and Myrtle Beach Christian on Wednesday.

Friday will be the team's last home game of the season, facing James Island Christian at 7 p.m.
