Lowcountry Preparatory School is fielding its first varsity baseball team this spring.
Practice began this month with coach Matthew Jordan and assistant coach Don Alford.
“Our first practice was a great success,” Jordan said. “We quickly identified strengths to build upon and areas for improvement.”
He added that he is “honored to be in on the ground floor of a program that promises to be a major asset to the school’s athletic department.”
The team’s first game is scheduled for March 12.
“I’m really glad that our school has started a team-we’ve got plenty of talent to leverage,” said Thomas DesChamps, a sophomore and an experienced baseball player.
Headmaster Scott Gibson agrees.
“The idea behind launching the team was to respond to demand from our students and our parents. I have a feeling that coaches Jordan and Alford will teach our student-athletes both great character and great ball skills in short order.”
