A Timeless View
The article on the front page of the July 4th edition headlined, “A Timeless View” Is instructive! No one knows what is going on, people quoted contradict each other, and the money is still not fully accounted for. Plus, to cap it all off … the clock has no hands yet! To paraphrase Shakespeare … Something seems rotten in Georgetown!
There needs to be full disclosure and a forensic sources and uses of funds commissioned to assure and explain to tax payers, elected officials and donors, what has gone on!

Tidelands Hospice Resale Shop
In July 2009 Tidelands Community Hospice, a not for profit Hospice serving Georgetown, Williamsburg and Horry counties since 1985, opened Tidelands Hospice Resale Shop in the Winyah Village Shopping Center in Georgetown.
The opening of Tidelands Hospice Resale Shop, stocked with gently used items of clothing, furniture, books and home décor items donated by the community, offered the opportunity for Tidelands Hospice to increase its outreach services in the community and to raise funds to benefit Tidelands Hospice patients and families. It also offered Tidelands Hospice an opportunity to extend its bereavement support by providing a safe, comfortable and supportive place for survivors to take a loved one's cherished possessions and an avenue to partner with area organizations and churches to provide community support to others who are in need.
Throughout the month of July Tidelands Hospice Resale Shop will celebrate its third year of being open. Thanks to the talents and efforts of Tidelands Hospice Resale Shop volunteers and the support of donors and businesses in the communities served by Tidelands Hospice, the Resale Shop has grown since its opening in July 2009. By offering a “feel good” way of recycling for donors and affordable shopping it continues to raise funds to benefit its patients and families; to provide additional community support for patients and families in need within the community; to offer bereavement support and to partner with other community organizations to provide community support.
Though much has been accomplished since the Resale Shop opened, we are aware that the needs of those in the communities served by Tidelands Hospice continue to grow. Our goal for Tidelands Hospice Resale Shop third year is to continue to grow to assist in meeting those needs. We thank you for your continued support and invite you to join us this month in celebrating Tidelands Hospice Resale Shop.

How can an average citizen make an informed judgment in today's charged atmosphere regarding health care?
On one hand we are bombarded with good intentioned Liberal/Progressives, tugging at our heartstrings telling us health care is a “right” that every inhabitant of America, citizens, undocumented visitors, the unemployed, even one-per centers deserves. On the other hand, we were taught early in grammar school that the Declaration of Independence officially states that the term “rights” is not a political term as today's mainstream media use it.
The only true concept of “rights” refers to unalienable, individual “rights.” The proper use of the term refers to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness. The aforementioned “rights” have one thing in common, that is, they are rights to action, not to rewards from other citizens. Our Founding Fathers, with God's help, were brilliant in developing the Rights spelled out in the Declaration of Independence.
The natural question arises as to how the Obama administration will enforce these new “rights.” The answer to the question is obvious. For the first time in our Nation's history, not doing something becomes taxable. Up until now, a person had to earn money, or buy something to be taxed.
Thanks to Chief Justice Roberts and President Obama, the central government plans to tax our very existence. In the course of our new behavior modification, if we fail to obey the commands of proper behavior, such as not being Green enough, politically correct enough, buying that gym equipment from the proper government retailer, eating government vegetables and tofu, buying a government built hybrid automobile we will face a huge tax bill.
If the rumors are true, the sad fact is that only in America does “health” “care” reform begin with hiring over 16,000 new IRS agents tasked with determining if our life style merits a steep fine.
For the citizens who strongly support Obamacare with its unlimited taxation and central control, what sorts of other behaviors should the IRS enforce?

It has long been my public opinion among Democrats that there are very few if any differences between the Democratic and Republican leadership in South Carolina. Most of them attend the same churches and have attended the same schools, they belong to the same civic organizations and country clubs and they are often seen attending the same functions. The rich and powerful rule both parties and if you do not kiss their ring and gain acceptance by someone in their inner circle you cannot successfully run for state or federal office in South Carolina, that is until now.
This is not a black or white thing nor is this about religion or sexual persuasion; this is about money and power, who controls it and who is kept from obtaining and controlling it. The group ALEC of Trayvon Martin fame was not created by accident. Their operational philosophy is based on the Southern principles of leadership which is born out of slavery economics, which states that when money owns politicians it not only control the laws, but also the power over the people, who have given their power to the politicians they have chosen to do their will.
Brian Doyle, Debbie Morrow and Gloria Tinubu did not kiss the ring of the powers that be in our South Carolina Democratic Party. They believed like many before them that the party was for all people and that it would welcome candidates that truly believed in the Democratic creed and loved their constituents enough to want to serve them. For their efforts, they received neither support nor encouragement from the Democratic Party hierarchy, only resistance and road blocks.
Mr. Doyle was all but labeled a criminal and not fit for office by none other than the state chair of the Democratic Party and it has been reported that Congressman Clyburn called him a Republican plant. Now Congressman Clyburn isn't that the same thing that you said about Alvin Green, and your opponent Gregory Brown two years ago? Ms. Morrow was not considered a serious candidate for the office. And Ms. Tinubu, a seasoned legislator in her own right was overlooked twice by the ranking Democrats in the state: Congressman Jim Clyburn, State Senators Vincent Sheheen and Kent Williams to name a few.
The first overlook [was] in favor of Ted Vick, who is also a seasoned legislator, was understandable at the time. But, endorsing young Mr. Brittain over her was disrespectful and as the grassroots base has said; it reeks of elitism, racism and sexism. We cannot blame young Mr. Brittain for seeing what he thought was an ideal opportunity and attempting to seize it. But we can blame those who provided the advice that has virtually wrecked his political career in the 7th District. There will never be enough money to repair the voters’ perception that he is a sore loser and behaved badly in his effort to win an election that he eventually lost twice, each time by large margins.
But, the most disturbing perception to come out of this is that our Democratic leadership would rather a Republican win than anyone they do not sanction. This was insinuated in 2010 when Congressman Clyburn led the attack on another African-American candidate, calling him a plant and releasing the flood gates of dissension which caused the demise of the Democratic Party's hopes, because they lost the support of their African-American base.
It is my belief that leaders support and serve the efforts of their followers, while dictators expect those that follow to support and serve them. As always these are just my observations and that does not make them right.
