Birthstones
My husband and I were walking around in Conway, S.C., recently, up one street and down another, just looking in the windows. We came to a jewelry store, where my late cousin “Little” Harold Wesley was employed for many years as a jeweler (fix-it) handyman.
We walked inside the little store and my eyes caught a beautiful glass showcase revealing the most exquisite birthstones. I suddenly recalled a most complete history and analysis of the birthstones.
I began searching through my files and found what I needed.
I sat down and began to read a description detailing the meaning and history behind the 12 birthstones.
This was from a record I've had in my files for more than 50 years.
I was overwhelmed at the origins and findings of kings, queens, the wealthy, the lovers, the oaths, the colors, on and on.
As I read through these descriptions, I was quickly reminded that our awesome creator God, has told us what He thinks about the beautiful stones, pure gold and silver in the book of Revelation, the final book in His manual or standard operating procedure for mankind Rev. 21:9-21.
This always overwhelms me.
As the holidays are approaching, and you are browsing around — visit a store where the wonderful birthstones can be seen and enjoyed, in a small town or a large city. Birthstones are so special.
