Lady Bulldogs test skills at summer camps

Three Georgetown High School basketball players have been honing their skills at Five Star and East Carolina University basketball camps this summer.
Taziya Moody, Jamia Porcher and Justis Evans will all be integral parts if the Lady Bulldogs hope to bounce back from a disappointing 2011-12 campaign when they didn't make the playoffs.
Moody, a rising junior, was named the Most Outstanding Player and Best Playmaker at the Five Star Camp in Orlando. She also won the MOP award at the camp last summer.
Porcher, a rising sophomore, was named the Most Promising Prospect at Five Star, and Evans, a rising junior, was named the best rebounder.
Moody and Porcher were named to the camp's All-Star teams, where they played each other. Moody's team won the championship for the second year in a row.
"It was a good bit of competition," Moody said. "There were people there from around the world."
Porcher, who also plays volleyball and runs track at Georgetown High, said at the camps the girls worked a lot on teamwork and spreading the ball around the court.
She only started two games last season and wants to get more playing time this season.
Moody thinks this year's Lady Bulldogs will be "pretty good," and hopes to make the playoffs. She has an eye on a state championship.
Five Star has been hosting camps since 1966 and alumni include Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Diana Taurasi and Kyrie Irving, the No. 1 pick in last year's NBA draft.
