Why do you like volunteering at the library?

I love books and I love to handle books.
It’s a joy because it is a lively place to work.
The staff is outstanding and the children’s library is run by Ms. Muffy.
She’s 84 and she is such a delight.
I really enjoy the people who come in the library.
We all walk different paths and it’s interesting to meet all the various kinds of people.
The library is one place you can do that.

What are your responsibilities at the library?

I come here two times a week for a few hours.
My primary duty is to take care of people who want to use the computers.
They are free to use.
We also have free Wi-Fi, so people come in with their own computers to work on projects.
People from out of state will come in to check their email on the computers.
I also shelve books and keep the shelves looking neat.
I enjoy organizing things.

What do you do in your free time?

I am a member of the Friends of the Waccamaw Library, also know as F.O.W.L.
I attend their meetings and help out with their annual book sale at St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church.
I love to garden and I love to read.
I also ride my bike everywhere I go.
I don’t even have a vehicle.
I think I am one of the only ladies in Pawleys Island who rides a bike.
I also enjoy walking on the beach.
I love Pawleys Island and I love being near the ocean.
I lived in Florida for 20 years.

How did you end up in Pawleys Island?

I moved here to live with my daughter, Kim Fox, who is the owner of Fox Marketing, Inc.
She is also the president of the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County.
That is something else I do — take minutes for the executive committee meetings for Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County.
My daughter, Kim, and I attend Grace Access Church next to the Litchfield Exchange.

Can you tell me about the rest of your family?

Well, my other daughter, Lee Ann Fox lives in Charlotte, N.C.
She is an audiologist for Miracle Ear.
My son, William Fox Jr. lives in Mount Pleasant and works at Publix grocery store.
