A funeral was held Tuesday for a 19-year-old Andrews man who was killed in a traffic accident in Williamsburg County on Saturday.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident hap- pened on Highway 45 — also called Santee Road — at about 1:10 a.m.
A 2003 GMC pickup truck ran off the right side of the road and the driver over-corrected and then ran off the left side of the road.
The truck, according to the High- way Patrol, then struck several trees and caught fire.
The driver — Sidney Amerson of Andrews — died in the crash.
The three passengers in the truck —
Bradley Thomas, 19, Brooke Bryant, 17, and Staci Cribb, 17, — were able to get out of the vehicle.
The Highway Patrol reported none of the three required medical attention but Angeline Lambert, the grandmother of Thomas, said he was taken to Kingstree Hospital because of a broken nose and other injuries.
Amerson – the son of Michael and Anna Amerson — played drums at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church which is where his funeral was held Tuesday.
Since his death, there has been an outpouring of sorrow and condolences – especially through social media.
“So sad...He was a nice person. Even if he didn’t know (you) he spoke and made (you) laugh. Good classmate. May God be with his family and the others who were with him,” Ivana Brown wrote on The Georgetown Times’ Facebook page.
“Sid had such an impact on this small town, he will surely be missed,” Erin Elliott added.
