A 46 year old Georgetown County woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle Monday morning.
According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, the person who died — identified by Deputy Coroner Paulette Radcliffe as Doris Bryant of Village Road — was standing on Powell Road and was hit by a 1998 Honda Accord driven by an Georgetown woman who was driving east.
The accident happened shortly past 6 a.m. The Highway Patrol says no charges will be filed against the driver since Bryant was in the roadway at the time of the accident.
"Pedestrians cannot be in the road. They must walk on the shoulder of the highway," said Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins.
