Apparently there is a chain of blame that occurs in families.
I have only begun to really take notice of this because of who is currently receiving the blame.
When Autumn was a baby, Dylan blamed her for things that were obviously not possible for her to do.
For example, when Autumn was four months old, according to Dylan she colored on her OWN head with a pen.
I am fairly certain he was the actual “artist” in the case.
Autumn is really smart, but that might be pushing it.
Autumn blamed a multitude of things on Denver, long before it was possible for him to accomplish them.
Jumping on beds before he could sit up?
I’ll admit, he is full of mischief, but he has to be able to walk before he can jump.
Denver blamed Chandler for leaving doors open or taking brownies – all of which she did from the comfort of her bouncy seat. Talk about talent!
But, when you’re the last of four, who’s left to blame?
The dog. Oh yeah that’s right, I said the dog.
Our dog has been really “bad” lately ...
He has cut pages out of books.
Turned off lights while the kids are in the shower. Taken ALL the band-aids. He has hidden toys and eaten others’ snacks.
He has failed to put away Chandler’s laundry like she told him to, or clean up her blocks.
It was his idea to spin in the office chair until she fell out.
He tripped Denver and played with Autumn’s American Girl doll while she was at school.
I mean, good grief have you ever heard of such a bad dog?
He’s not even doing “bad dog” stuff like chewing furniture, but “bad kid” stuff like hiding Dylan’s Lego’s.
I may need to find him a new home where he can get into less trouble.
She probably should have picked someone with thumbs to make her story more believable.
Or someone with even a slight level of excitability.
I have never seen Vinnie the dog chase anything – including a neighbor’s cat who likes to lounge on our driveway.
Let alone, change Autumn’s doll’s clothes.
But when you’re the baby, your blame choices are limited I guess.
In her defense, at least we have a dog for her to blame.
Although if we didn’t, I wonder who she would blame? Me?
