Erin Spatz: Starstruck at the Extreme Makeover, Home Edition site

Article Content:

Today I had the opportunity to do something really fun.

As a mom, usually the fun involves one of the kids, which don't get me wrong, makes me happy beyond reason. But this time was just about fun for me.

Blair from "Barefoot Barista" in Litchfield asked me to serve coffee in the V.I.P tent at the building site for "Extreme Makeover, Home Edition." This tent was only for cast, crew, and VIPs from the local construction companies actually managing the building.

I had big plans.

Plans filled with star sightings and at least 100 photos of me with every one of the cast members.

That did not happen.

What happened was . . . I served coffee.

Good coffee mind you, great coffee actually. The hazelnut is heaven in a mug.

But I guess it serves me right and finally makes my mom and I even.

Years ago the very handsome Ty Pennington was behind me at the airport in Atlanta. Back before he was super famous. My mom was standing with me and she kept whispering through her teeth "That's Ty!" I just kept shaking my head no, she continues to attempt to yell (while whispering through clenched teeth) "yes that's him." To which I respond with my teeth clenched "I know, but don't say anything."

I wouldn't "let" her talk to him.

Like I have any real control over her.

She has yet to get over this. Every time she thinks of this one event, she gets mad all over again.

Well, Mom we're even. At least you got to see him. I didn't even get that.

Sorry you didn't see Ty, but at least you're practicing serving coffee which will be handy when you receive your inheritance. tee hee
