The annual Georgetown County Christmas Parade will be held on Front Street in Georgetown at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The parade will go from East Bay Park to Wood Street.

Line-up will be at 10 a.m. at tha park.

Participants in the parade have to be registered by noon on Nov. 30 by calling Prince George Framing at 843-527-8413.

Some exciting entries already signed up are The Studio of Dance, Birds of Prey, Omar Jail Bird Unit, Omar Vets-(riding in mini-cars), Veterans of Foreign Wars, marching bands from Browns Ferry Elementary, Georgetown High School and Andrews High School, Winyah Cruisers, St. Frances Animal Center, and Carolina Misses Baton and Dance.

After the parade, Santa Claus will be available at Francis Marion Park for boys and girls with Christmas wishes. 

Also at the park will be Birds of Prey.

Later, there will be music from 5 to 6:45 at Francis Marion Park with a tree lighting celebration at 6:45 p.m. Santa will be there too.

The Andrews Christmas Parade will be Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.

Anyone interested in participating should contact the Town Hall before Monday, Dec. 3 - 264-8666.

Applications are available at Andrews Town Hall. An entry fee of $5 is required.

The public may participate by walking, a float (commercial or homemade,) a vehicle, a trailer or other.

Andrews will have its Christmas Tree Lighting  Thursday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 at Town Hall.  Santa will be there.

Downtown Georgetown

The Friends of the Georgetown Library will once again sponsor their annual Yuletide Tour of Homes on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 1 to 6 p.m.

This year’s tour will also feature several of the beautiful churches that grace Georgetown’s Historic District.  

Offered for touring will be six residences, five church sanctuaries, and a recently refurbished house museum.  

The tour is self-guided and maps will be provided. 

Tickets are $15 for Friends of the Library members and $20 for those who do not belong to the organization.

Tickets may be purchased the day of the tour or in advance at the Georgetown Library at 405 Cleland Street, the Waccamaw Neck Branch Library at 24 Commerce Lane, and the Winyah Fitness Center at 929 Front Street.  

All proceeds help make children’s programming possible.

The Plantersville Christmas Committee is asking for the  support for their annual Christmas Parade.  The event will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 25 at 1 p.m.   

The line-up time is noon at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Plantersville located at 5348 Exodus Drive. The parade will end at St. Paul Park at the intersection of Exodus and Bromell Avenue.  

There will be free food, gifts and fun for all ages.  There is no fee to participate in the parade, but donations are welcomed.   

For any vendors that have a desire to set up and sell goods, there will be a $25 fee.  

Decorations and items that are necessary for participant use are the responsibility of the individual participant.

Free tickets for Georgetown’s 23rd annual Singing Christmas Tree are now available.  

This year’s performances will be on Friday through Monday, Dec. 7 to 10 at the First Baptist Church, located at the corner of Highmarket and Cleland streets.  

Prelude concerts featuring Randy Gamble (Friday and Monday evenings,) The Worship Band of First Baptist Church (Saturday evening) and Nathan Herron from the Carolina Opry (Sunday evening) will be presented at 6:15 p.m. followed by the Tree at 7 p.m.  

There will also be a matinee on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. with a prelude concert featuring The Worship Band of First Baptist Church at 2:15 p.m. 

Tickets are required each night until 6:45 p.m., at which time people will be seated as space is available.  

Tickets may be picked up at the office of First Baptist, located at 219 Cleland St., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.  The office will be closed for Thanksgiving on Nov. 22 and 23.

The 2012 Singing Christmas Tree program is entitled “The Greatest Story Ever Told!”  

Using narration and Scripture from Max Lucado’s popular narrative of the Bible called The Story, it will focus on the coming of Jesus Christ in human form and why God chose to send His one and only Son.  

Featured will be beautiful music sung by an incredible 80-voice choir standing in a 23-foot Christmas tree accompanied by a live instrumental ensemble and spectacular lighting.  

The program will be under the direction of Jay Holmes, minister of music.

Kick off your holiday season with the Annual Murrells Inlet “Boats and Floats for the Kids” Christmas Parade scheduled for Sunday, December 2, 2012.  This parade is all about the kids.

Bring the entire family and find a comfy spot along the parade route to watch the wonderful line-up of over 70 fun and creative entries that are guaranteed to make you smile, laugh, and get in the holiday spirit.  

The parade starts at Booty’s at Willcox Avenue at 3 p.m.  

It heads south down Business 17 and ends at the Brookwood Inn at Pendergrass Avenue.  

Visitors can view the parade anywhere along its route on Highway 17 Business.  

Parade viewers are asked to bring a canned food item.  

Girl Scout Troop 734 in Murrells Inlet will be walking the parade route to collect food items for the Murrells Inlet Church of God Food Bank.  

In lieu of a parade entry fee, parade participants are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for the Toys for Tots campaign.  

All toys collected will be distributed in Georgetown County.

Brookgreen Gardens will come to life with the glow of more than 5,500 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights during Nights of a Thousand Candles. 

Walk the paths with a warm beverage, hear the sounds of hand bells ringing, carolers singing, and celebrate the season with family and friends. 

More than 30 acres of the gardens are open to the public. 

Candles drift quietly in the fountains surrounding sculpture as white lights illuminate the branches of centuries-old live oak trees. 

Each night an extensive array of musical performances will be held throughout the gardens as local choral ensembles, hand bell choirs and jazz groups play classical and current holiday favorites. 

All entertainment is included in admission. 

Dinner is available at an additional cost.  

Adult tickets are $16 and child tickets (ages 4-12) are $7 and children age three and under are free. 

All ticket proceeds go to support Brookgreen Gardens, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve and display American sculpture and regional plants, animals, and history.
