The Georgetown County School District is keeping its director of student support services and special programs.
As reported last month, the man who holds that position — Dr. Mike Cafaro — was one of three finalists for a school superintendent’s position in Barnwell County.
He had applied to lead the Williston District 29.
Cafaro found out last week he did not get the job but he was runner up.
“I was a little disappointed but I understand there were many many talented people with a lot of experience in education who applied,” Cafaro said. “I was humbled and honored they would consider me.”
Cafaro said he will try again for a superintendent position “if the right opportunity comes along.”
