Police blotter: CVS robber wanted drugs, not money

A man is on the run after robbing the Murrells Inlet CVS store at about 12:25 a.m.  Wednesday.
But, it was not money the man was after. It was prescription drugs.
According to a Sheriff’s Office report, a deputy on patrol saw a female worker of the store looking out the door. He stopped and was told the store had just been robbed.
The woman said the man  — wearing a black mask and black clothing — ran in and pointed a gun at the pharmacist.
The pharmacist said the robber handed him a brown bag and demeaned that he fill it with Oxycontin and Oxycodone.
The victim said the man also ordered him to remove any of the drugs that were in the safe.
None of the workers knew if the man fled on foot or in a vehicle.
They said the whole ordeal lasted about five minutes.

Joke turns violent

A 45-year-old Pawleys Island man said he was attacked while at a party at a home in Debordieu Jan. 31.
He said he was in the kitchen having what he considered a normal conversation with a 50-year-old Andrews man and that man’s wife. He said he made a joke that upset the older man, listed as the suspect on the report.
The suspect reportedly grabbed the victim by the throat and pushed him in the mud room and continued to squeeze his throat with one hand.
The victim says he must have passed out because the next thing he remembers is he was on the floor.
The deputy said he saw bruising on the victim’s next which looks like to have been made by a hand.
The investigation continues.

Drunk and armed

Deputies were rushed to Pawleys Island Tavern Jan. 30 where a man with a gun was being held down by other patrons.
The 34-year-old Columbia man — at the club celebrating his birthday — was “highly intoxicated,” the report says. He was placed in handcuffs.
During the evening, an argument erupted between the suspect and a few other people.
The suspect walked outside and was later seen walking back towards the bar holding a rifle behind his back. A 40-year-old Pawleys Island man tackled the suspect to make sure he did not make it inside with the gun.
After the man was arrested it was discovered the rifle was unloaded.

Very strong hate
A 17-year-old Carvers Bay High student has not been getting along with an 18-year-old classmate since the two were in the thirds grade.
The 17-year-old allegedly tried to run over the victim recently and, on Tuesday, while they were in the principal’s office the older female allegedly told the victim “she hated her more than she loved God,” the report states.
The suspect has also been overheard saying she was going to “get” the victim.

Too much noise

A woman who lives across from the Shops at Sweetgrass in Pawleys Island filed a noise complaint Feb. 2.
She said every Tuesday at 4 a.m. a truck empties the Dumpsters at the business and it wakes her up. She said she has complained to the company and was promised something would be done but the problem continues.

Door shattered

A man who occasionally checks on a house belonging to his daughter went by the residence on Parkersville Road in Pawleys Island Feb. 2 and found the glass in the back door shattered.
The man and deputies went inside and found a hammer next to the door believed to have been used to break the window.
Nothing appeared to be missing.
The owner, who lives in Wilmington, was contacted.
