Baseball players concentrate on the diamond on a round sphere.
This time of year, though, team members have a slightly different set of round spheres where they're focusing their attention.
Ball players and parents are taking orders now for fruit for the holidays. The sale continues until Nov. 30.
It's a tradition that's been going on for more than 30 years, Alicia Johnson said. She's an assistant principal at Georgetown High School and is helping to coordinate the citrus fruit sale for the baseball program there.
There are three kinds of citrus fruit available: grapefruit, navel oranges and tangelos.
A half-box of any kind is $13, and a full box of any kind is $25.
There hasn't been a price increase for the past three years, Johnson said.
Proceeds from the sale go to the purchase of baseball team equipment, uniforms and other needs.
