If you have ever wished there was a place in Georgetown where you could do your daily workout at 3 a.m., a new business soon to open could be the answer.
Anytime Fitness is expected to open by the end of the month at 907 North Fraser Street (formerly the Blossom Shoppe) and will offer its members the chance to use the center 24-hours-a-day, says owner Crys Peyton. He owns similar facilities in Sumter and Florence.
He said Anytime Fitness is the "largest co-ed fitness franchise in the world" with over 2000 locations — most locate in the United States.
Peyton said he expects the facility to be open by Dec. 31 — admittedly in time for the New Year's resolution crowd.
Members will be given a fob for their keychain which will grant them access to the building at any time. The fob can also be used at any other Anytime Fitness location, Peyton said.
"People's schedules are not always 8-5," Peyton said about the need for such an around-the-clock center. "I know 4 a.m. is when some people do their workouts."
There will be staff members on hand during the busier times which is usually from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m., Peyton said.
When staff is not on site, the center is protected by security cameras and buttons that can be pushed will automatically connect the user with a security monitoring network.
Personal safety devices allow for one-touch access to emergency care.
