Carvers Bay's Da'Shaun Aiken and Jasmine Eaddy have been named two of the top Class A basketball players in the area by the Coastal Basketball Coaches Association.
Five boys and five girls from the Class of 2013 are chosen in each division.
"They ranked me so I've got to show them what I can do," Aiken said.
"It puts a lot of pressure on me," Eaddy said. "It gives me a chance you prove myself and why I got to be top five."
Aiken, a four-year starter for the Bears, is on track to become the school's all-time leading scorer this season. He averages 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists per game.
He's been named to the All-Region team three times, was named the Coastal Basketball Coaches Basketball Association's player of the week five times, and was the most valuable player of the 2011 Georgetown Dental Shootout.
Aiken also plays football and runs track for the Bears, but he prefers basketball.
"I have been very lucky to coach some great players in my time at Carvers Bay High School," Bears coach Jeff Mezzatesta said. "Da'Shaun is a wonderful young man and very good basketball player. I know that he will continue to make his community, school, and team very proud over the course of this season."
Aiken said now that he's a senior he's going to lead his team "with everything that I've got."
Eaddy is playing for her third coach this season.
"It's difficult but you get used to it over time," she said.
Eaddy thinks Timmonsville is the team to beat in the region, but hopes the Bears can challenge for the title.
"We're great," she said. "I believe we are going to beat many teams."
