And then there were four.
That is the number of contenders remaining on the list of those hoping to be the next Georgetown city administrator.
Slavin Management Consultants of Norcross, Ga. — the firm hired to conduct the search — narrowed the field of applications from the original 225 to six, said Mayor Jack Scoville.
Last week, two of the six withdrew their applications.
On Nov. 30, the four will meet individually with members of City Council and the following day will meet with the entire council at one time.
Scoville said after that council is expected to narrow the list to two or three finalists. At that time the names of the finalists will be released.
“We are aware of the Freedom of Information Act and will comply with the rules,” Scoville said. “We are not trying to hide anything.”
He said a couple of the four remaining have asked their names not be released unless they make the final cut because doing so could cause problems at their current jobs.
Scoville said three of the four are from South Carolina.
He said he hopes the new administrator can be in place by Jan. 1.
