FUNERAL SERVICES
Emma Blackwell
Emma Joanne Howard Blackwell, 66, of Seneca died Saturday, September 4, 2010, at her residence.
Mrs. Blackwell was born in Andrews on October 4, 1943, a daughter of the late Pratt John Howard and Getty H. Howard.
She grew up in Andrews and attended Andrews High School.
Mrs. Blackwell lived in Greenville for a number of years before moving to Seneca a short time ago.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Mrs. Blackwell was predeceased by two sisters, Nora Lee Howard and Doris Howell; a brother, Johnny Elwood Howard; and a great-grandson.
Surviving are her husband, Richard Arthur Blackwell of Seneca; three sons, Michael O’Neal Long of Andrews, Thomas Dwayne Long (Connie) of Johnsonville and William Douglas Meek III (Gina) of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two daughters, Deborah Denise Vermilyea (George) of Gray Court and Vicki Lynn Long of Georgetown; two brothers, Henry James “Jackie” Howard (Linda) of Florence and John P. Howard, Jr. (Sandra) of Andrews; a sister, Nina Pope (Jimmy) of Hemingway; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon, September 7, 2010, at Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
Officiating will be the Rev. Doug Mathis.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the cemetery from one-thirty until two o’clock.
The Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Marian Brown
Mrs. Marian W. Brown, 98, of Charleston, SC, the widow of the late Dr. S.A. Brown, formerly Presiding Elder of the Georgetown District, departed this life on Thursday, September 2, 2010 in Tidelands Hospice House, Georgetown, SC.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Mt. Zion AME Church, 5 Gilebe Street, Charleston, SC with Rev. Dr. Alonzo Middleton, officiating.
Burial follows in Brotherly Cemetery, under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.
Her remains can be viewed at W.J. McKnight & Son Chapel in Andrews, Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and will lie in-state at the Church Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of services.
Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late Anthony B. and Marie Edwards Williams.
She was born March 30, 1912 in Beaufort, SC, and was educated in Beaufort County Public Schools, Allen University, Benedict College and Tuskegee University.
She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church, where she served as member of the local Women's Missionary Society and other various positions.
Mrs. Brown served as the Georgetown Area Consultant for the Women's Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, and was a Life Member of the WMS of the Seventh Episcopal District of the AME Church.
She was a retired Teacher for Charleston County Schools.
Survivors are a special niece, her husband and granddaughter, Mrs. Hester (Lee) Brown Gadsden and the Right Reverend Alphonza Gadsden & Ashley, Kingstree, SC; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Sallie Elizabeth Brown, Hemingway, SC; and a host of other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Sarah Eaddy
Funeral services for the late Sarah Eaddy will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Church of God in Georgetown, SC.
The Elder Anthony Chandler will conduct the religious service.
Interment will follow in the St. Luke Cemetery directed by Nesmith-Pinckney Funeral Home, Inc.
Ms. Sarah Eaddy entered into eternal rest on September 1, 2010 at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence after an illness.
She was born in Georgetown County, a daughter of the late Henry and Albertha Cobb Deas.
She was educated in the public schools of Florence County.
Ms. Eaddy was employed by the House of Raeford in Nesmith, SC.
She was joined in holy matrimony to the late Lawrence Eaddy.
Loving memories will be cherished by her four daughters, Leslie, Serena, Eunice Eaddy of Johnsonville, SC, and Lareshia Williams of Mullins, SC.; eight brothers, James (Pam) Deas, Henry Deas, Jr. and Robert Deas all of Durham, NC. Joseph Deas of Lagona Hills, CA. Richard (Bettie) Deas, Roland Deas, Amos Deas, Darry Deas, all of Johnsonville, SC.; Five sisters, Zelma (Ricky) Jones, Mary (Theodore) Fulton and Victoria (Michael) Davis of Johnsonville, SC, Ruby E. (Myers) Burgess of Durham, NC. Bertha Lee (Leroy) Dorsey of Hemingway, SC.; seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
