William Holmes
Captain, U.S. Navy Retired – William H Holmes, age 91, of Pawleys Island, S.C. was a wonderful loving Dad who loved the Lord our God as a humble servant and ended his life here on earth September 20, 2012.
Bill was born in Georgia, graduated from Georgia Tech in Industrial Engineering, and served in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters during WWII, and the Korean Conflict.
He received numerous medals, including the Presidential Citation.
Bill retired from the U.S. Navy as a Captain, serving 26 years.
He was employed 40+years at Southern Bell Telephone Company, working in several departments, and retired in Columbia, S.C.
He was an active member of the Sertoma Service Club for 45 years.
Bill and his family lived in Chapin, SC where he served at Chapin United Methodist Church as Chairman of the administrative board and the financial secretary.
His final 10 years were active in Pawley’s Island, SC, serving on the board of the library and Condominium boards and was an active member of St Paul Waccamaw United Methodist Church.
Mr. Holmes is survived by his son, William M Holmes and wife Karen of Wilmington, N.C.; and his daughter, Cindy Lee Mannella and husband Mark of Winter Garden, Fla.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Vera of 58 years of marriage; and his son, Kenneth.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church in Pawley’s Island, S.C.
The burial service will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 11 a.m. at Westover Memorial Park Cemetery in Augusta, Ga.

Joyce McLeod
Joyce McLeod, 90, of Georgetown, S.C. passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Born on April, 8, 1922, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Captain Ben McLeod and the late Mamie Parham.
Mrs. McLeod was a member of First Baptist Church, a graduate of Coker College and was a former English teacher.
Her love for the fine arts led her to becoming a stage actress and staring in many stage productions.
Mrs. McLeod also enjoyed gardening and was a lover of animals.
Survivors include four nephews, James S. Bass III (Diane) of Beaufort and Ben McLeod Jr., Bob McLeod, and Bruce McLeod, all of Maryland; a niece, Betsy Craft (Jack) of Maryland; a sister in law, Elizabeth McLeod of Maryland; and a number of great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Bass; and a brother, Ben McLeod.
A Graveside Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ted Sherrill officiating.
