Devonia Moore
Devonia Thomas Moore, 86, of Andrews, S.C., the widow of Thomas Robert “TR” Moore, went home to be with the Lord Friday morning, September 14, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Moore was born the daughter of Daniel Jackson Thomas and Melissa Elliott Thomas on November 2, 1925 in Andrews.
Though words could never fully describe all her life, she committed her life to acts of selfless giving, fervent prayer, and an unconditional love to earn her the distinguished title – Beloved Mother.
Devonia and TR were married April 23,1943and celebrated 57 years together.
Their home was blessed with two children, Linda M. (Art) Wolf, and Marilyn (Theron) Floyd; three grandchildren, Robert (Heather) Wolf, Jeff (Johnnie) Floyd, and Susan Floyd; five great-grandchildren, Caleb, J.T., Ethan, Emma, and Evie.
Also surviving are her adopted family including Rev. Elwood (Liz) Duncan, Dorothy “Dot” Merritt, Lorraine (Theron, Sr.) Floyd, Rev. Donald (Virginia) Duncan, Burnett (Bertha) Duncan, Mrs. Betty Duncan and Rebecca “Bec” Duncan; and a large number of nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; a husband; a brother, Reid Irby Saxon; a sister, Viola Thomas McKenzie; and her adopted brothers including, Rev. Henry and Mildred Duncan, Earl Duncan and DD Duncan.
A Graveside Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening, September 16, 2012 at Oak Ridge Cemetery, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, September 16, 2012, at the Andrews Chapel.
