FUNERAL SERVICES

Viola Benton

Viola B. Benton, 88, of Andrews died Sunday, March 14, 2010, at her son’s residence in Andrews.

Mrs. Benton was born in Andrews on November 16, 1921, a daughter of the late John Buren Benton and Ida Casselman Benton.

She grew up in the Andrews area and was a graduate of Williamsburg High School and attended Florence Business School.

Mrs. Benton was manager of Cato’s clothing store in Andrews for a number of years.

She was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church and a founding member of Stono Baptist Church on John’s Island.

Mrs. Benton was predeceased by: her husband, James Dean Benton; and three brothers, Ernest Benton, Brooks Benton, and R.B. Benton.

Surviving are four sons, Archie D. Hanna (Joyce) of Andrews; Joseph L. Hanna (Janet) of Atlanta, Ga., Rodney D. Benton (Jannette) of Goldsboro, N.C., and Blair C. Benton (Claire) of Cantonment, Fla.; four daughters, Elaine Faith Webb (David) of Ridgeway, Patricia A. Benton of Knoxville, Tenn., Michelle B. Shank (Ed) of Summerville, and Sharon B. Helps (David) of Columbia; two sisters, Taulah Fulton and Doris Ethridge, both of Andrews; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be eleven o’clock Wednesday morning, March 17, 2010, at Pine Crest Baptist Church.

Officiating will be the Rev. Jack Mobley.

Burial will follow at three o’clock in Carolina Memorial Park in N. Charleston.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, March 16, 2010, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from six until eight.

Willie Blow

Willie James Blow of Hemingway died Friday, March 12, 2010 at MRMC Hospice House in Florence, SC.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Jerusalem AME Church in Hemingway, directed by Linen-Knox Funeral Home.

Burial will be in the Jerusalem AME Church cemetery.

Mr. Blow was born August 28, 1936.

He was a member of Jerusalem AME Church.

Surviving are his wife, Annie (Rebecca) Blow; four sons, Elijah Selph, Willie Blow, De’Marcos Blow and Brandon Blow; five daughters, Janice Blow and Melissa Blow; one step-son, Alphonso White; and two step-daughters, Brenda White and Jackie Williams.

Robert Dunn

Robert Lee Dunn, age 68, of Allston Plantation, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pasadena, CA he was the son of the late Norwood Dunn and Alis Dunn Caspari.  Mr. Dunn was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was retired as an auto salesman.

Survivors include his wife, Monette A. Dunn; sons, Steven Dunn and Christopher (Wendy) Dunn both of CA; grandchildren, Ryan, Kingston, Faith; and a sister, Georgia (Frank) Gaspar of CA.

Services will be private.

Allen Moore Jr.

Allen Lavern “Junior” Moore Jr., 46, the beloved husband of  Vickie M. Moore,  went home to be with the Lord on Sunday evening, March 14, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Moore was born a son of the Allen Lavern Moore, Sr. and Alice Faye Duncan Moore-Davis on May 2, 1963 in Hemingway, SC.

He was a mechanic and heavy equipment operator for Southern Wood Products.

Mr. Moore was part of the Black River Free Will Baptist Church family.

He was an avid outdoorsman and a member of John’s Lake Hunting Club.    

Junior and Vickie were married November 20, 1985.

From their blessed union survives: two sons, William Lavern (Kimberly) Moore, and Casey Allen Moore; one grandchild, Landon Neal Moore. Also surviving are: his mother and step-father, Mark “Johnny” Davis; his mother-in-law, Bessie L. Moore; two brothers, James Earl Moore and Jimmy Ritch; four sisters, Darlene (Rev. Jeff) Goude, Penny Moore, Pamela Cumbie, and Georgia (William) Henkhaus.

Mr. Moore was predeceased by: his grandparents, Henry Long, Stanley and Alberta Kirton, Johnny and Mazie Moore; his father; and father-in-law, William Moore.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 17, 2010 in the Black River Free Will Baptist with interment following in the Piney Forest Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.  

The Moore family received family and friends at their home Tuesday, March 16, 2010 until 9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Tidelands Hospice House or Black River Baptist Church.  McKenzie Funeral Home is honored to serve the Moore family. Online Condolences may be sent to McKenzieFH.com.

Willie Blow has five daughters: Janice Blow-Albert, Jessie Janet Blow-Bishop, Jennifer Blow-Jones, Melissa Blow, and JaNene Blow. Brenda White is his step-daughter.
